Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tMSc Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Microbiology\u00a0
\n\tPreferred: PhD degree\u00a0<\/p>\n
Work Exprerience<\/p>\n
\t4 years\u2019 experience in the relevant scientific field. \u00a0
\n\tBe registered with the relevant professional legislated regulatory body. i.e. HPCSA, SACNASP \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0
\nFinance<\/p>\n
\tGive input to the formulation of the operational budget and monitor and track applicable spending.
\n\tProvide leadership with expenditure undertaken by the diagnostic section
\n\tManage and monitor financial obligations that projects have to TIA (e.g. service fees, generation of service quotes, invoices etc)
\n\tSolicit additional funding through submission funding proposals<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Relations Plans<\/p>\n
\tAssume custodianship for linking the Platform and diagnostic section with relevant accreditation authority.
\n\tManage effective internal and\/or external Stakeholder relationships:
\n\tDeliver required service to the stakeholder on brief, time and with quality
\n\tRespond timeous to queries of the stakeholder
\n\tMaintain professional engagements and continuously exceed expectations<\/p>\n
Internal Processes<\/p>\n
\tLead a multidisciplinary team in diagnostic section, to deliver on approved assignment and assays.
\n\tProvide project management and leadership on assigned projects including project costing
\n\tProvide critical input into the operational plan of the Platform with regards to the area of expertise, i.e. diagnostic sections.
\n\tLead process of certifying the Diagnostic section in according to the relevant requirement i.e. SANAS. DoH etc
\n\tDevelop research protocols and SOP for the laboratory with assistance from other Platform scientists
\n\tEnsure timeous and accurate reporting as per requirements to clients, funders, and other stakeholders. Prepare technical reports, summaries and protocols of the reports
\n\tCompile internal and external proposals with input from the Platform technical team & complete external project review forms
\n\tEnsure adherence to all legal compliance and business processes
\n\tConduct a technical feasibility study and project definition meeting
\n\tDefine a consolidated project plan with deliverables as identified in the project definition meeting
\n\tSource approved equipment and consumables and manage stock levels
\n\tManage the lab equipment and oversee the general housekeeping of the laboratory.
\n\tManage SLA’s and service received from providers.
\n\tDevelop new products and processes at the Platform: Design experiments, analyses results and compile SOP’s and test methods in line with client needs and statutory requirements.
\n\tTrouble shoot experimental problems and find solutions
\n\tDraft and publish scientific and technical papers<\/p>\n
Governance and Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with Legislation, e.g. PFMA and National Treasury Guidelines;
\n\tEnsure compliance to all relevant accounting Standards, Policies and Frameworks; and
\n\tEnsure Compliance with TIA Standard Operating Procedures
\n\tBe registered with the relevant professional legislated regulatory body. i.e. HPCSA, SACNASP<\/p>\n
