\tOur Trade Mark Prosecution Department (Local and Foreign) has a vacant position for a qualified Attorney. We are looking for a young, energetic, and highly driven candidate to become part of this well-established and growing practice. The ideal candidate is confident with excellent written and oral communication abilities, the ability to handle multiple priorities, and a good understanding of client needs. \u00a0If you enjoy trade mark prosecution and have the desire to take your career to the next level, then this is for you. Key responsibilities of the Trade Mark Associate will include but not be limited to:<\/p>\n
\tConducting trade mark availability searches in South Africa and abroad;
\n\tProviding substantive advice in relation to brand selection and trade mark protection in South Africa and abroad;
\n\tAttending to all aspects of trade mark prosecution (from filing to registration) in South Africa and abroad;
\n\tAdvising on and attending to trade mark recordals in South Africa and abroad;
\n\tCorresponding with clients in a professional and timeous manner;
\n\tManaging trade mark prosecution deadlines through the use of the firm\u2019s case management software system;
\n\tLiaising with foreign correspondents and advising clients accordingly in an understandable manner;
\n\tLiaising with CIPC officials;
\n\tAdherence to company policies and client requirements regarding invoicing.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements:<\/p>\n
\tCompleted LLB with 2 years of Clerkship served in an IP firm;
\n\tAdmitted Attorney;
\n\tKnowledge and understanding of Trade Marks;
\n\tExperience in and ability to do legal research and draft opinions;
\n\tFully computer literate on MS Office (Knowledge Patricia and Elite 3E will be advantageous);
\n\tExcellent written & oral communication skills and good command of English;
\n\tMust be able to multi-task;
\n\tAble to work independently;
\n\tDeadline driven;
\n\tGood team player;
\n\tGood interpersonal skills;
\n\tPersonal development abilities;
\n\tClient focused;
\n\tGood negotiation skills;
\n\tAble to maintain an orderly working environment;
\n\tPunctual and reliable;
\n\tGood work ethics;
\n\tHaving passed SAIIPL Group 1 examinations would be an advantage.<\/p>\n
