\tRPO Recruitment’s client, a reputable and well established multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm in South Africa is currently on the lookout for a hardworking and committed High Voltage Electrical Engineer for their successful team in Johannesburg.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Detailed Electrical Engineering of MV and HV (132kV, 275kV and 400kV substations) including the development and checking of:<\/p>\n
\tPrefeasibility studies.
\n\tFeasibility studies.
\n\tTender design. (prelim & detail design)
\n\tManufacturing, installation and commissioning witnessing.
\n\tLoad lists, Single line diagrams, Network diagrams.
\n\tElectrical schematic diagrams & Diversification and load factors.
\n\tElectrical network design & Fault level calculations.
\n\tKnowledge of substation protection schemes (MV and HV).
\n\tKnowledge of protection schemes modelling of protection schemes and definition of protection settings.
\n\tKnowledge of power metering specification and interface to substation Energy\/Building Management Systems.
\n\tCable routing design & Cable sizing calculations
\n\tSubstation AC & DC requirements, lighting calculations, modelling and layouts.
\n\tSubstation earthing, earthing system designs & earthing layouts.
\n\tHV & MV equipment specifications of Electrical Equipment including, Switchgear, Distribution boards, Transformers, primary plant, secondary plant, power factor correction, control & power Cables, Lighting, Scada and communication systems.
\n\tPassive fire protection systems layouts and specification.
\n\tSpecification of construction standards of installation.
\n\tInterface with energy efficiency and providing energy efficient electrical solutions.
\n\tInterface and familiar with quality of power supply requirements and evaluation.
\n\tInterface and familiar with control & protection systems requirements and evaluation regarding substations.
\n\tKnowledge of system studies (e.g. short circuit; load flow and protection co-ordination).
\n\tUtilize vendor data and work with other disciplines as required for engineering and design.
\n\tParticipate and perform squad checks of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines.
\n\tDevelop and check equipment purchase specification and develop RFQ\u2019s (e.g. MV and HV substations, OHL, power transformers, Power factor Correction & related equipment in substations.
\n\tDevelop technical scope of work and tender documentation and bills of quantities for construction contracts.
\n\tDevelop tender documentation, adjudicate tenders, provide re-measurement of works and approve contract claims.
\n\tPrepare project scheduling and planning, developing basic Bar charts for Electrical Engineering input to project management team.
\n\tManage progress and quality control activities for equipment manufacture.
\n\tConduct vendor inspections and factory acceptance testing of equipment.
\n\tManage HV & MV switchgear and specialist equipment contractors.
\n\tProvide field engineering support to construction and commissioning teams.
\n\tProject hand over and close out documentation.
\n\tProvide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.<\/p>\n
Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tBEng\/BSc\/BTech in Electrical Engineering
\n\tPr Eng\/Pr Tech Eng registration with ECSA
\n\tMinimum of 8-10 years\u2019 post-graduate experience, multi-disciplinary experienced gained from client, consultant and\/or contractor perspective.
\n\tProfessional Registration with relevant Project Management bodies (ECSA, SACPCMP and\/or PMI)
\n\tSolid fundamental knowledge and experience in the application of the methodologies and processes as described in PMBOK.
\n\tPrevious track record in successfully generating new business would be advantageous.
\n\tAbility to liaise with relevant stakeholders at all levels
\n\tComputer literacy in MS Office and MS Projects at an advanced level
\n\tSound electrical engineering knowledge and experience in MV and HV (132kV, 275kV and 400kV substations.) environment.
\n\tAn intimate knowledge of local and international standards and codes.
\n\tBe able to develop engineering documentation from first principles.
\n\tBe able to work within a disciplined engineering environment.
\n\tConversant with DIgSILENT (or other equivalent package) electrical power systems modelling and analysis software would be advantageous.
\n\tKnowledge of overhead power line design (using PLS-CADD software) and construction will be advantageous.
\n\tAn intimate working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Access and Microsoft Project. (Advantage will be knowledge of Auto CAD and\/or MicroStation CAD programs)
\n\tExperience with Eskom and local Municipalities processes and systems would be advantageous
\n\tBe well acquainted with local equipment, manufacturers, suppliers and installation contractors.
\n\tA thorough knowledge of the OHS Act, pertinent SANS and IEC codes and standards and industry practices.
\n\tGood communication and people management skills for effective interface with other engineering disciplines, the client and contractors.
\n\tThe ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
\n\tMust be a team player at all times and lead \/ support the team with integrity and respect
\n\tAn awareness and appreciation for health, safety and environmental issues.
\n\tStrong project management skills (PMBOK)
\n\tLeadership skills, motivated and disciplined.
\n\tFlexible approach and multi-tasking abilities.
