\tWe\u2019re seeking an energetic and skilled Field Engineer to join our maintenance team in Johannesburg. In this critical role, you\u2019ll provide technical expertise to resolve complex issues, support our maintenance technicians, and ensure the safety and performance of KONE\u2019s elevators and escalators. Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tResolve complex technical issues assigned by the Technical Helpdesk (THD) on both KONE and various Non-Kone Equipment (NKE) products, providing remote and on-site support to maintenance technicians.
\n\tConduct technical due diligence for new equipment (KONE or competitor products) as requested by sales or supervisors.
\n\tIdentify and address technical issues or safety hazards in equipment to prevent callouts, creating sales leads where applicable.
\n\tPerform tests and final inspections on KONE and non-KONE (NKE) elevators and escalators to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
\n\tProvide feedback to the THD Manager on product improvements, repair needs, or methods to reduce callouts and enhance safety.
\n\tProvide timely, professional feedback on all requests assigned to you by the THD Manager.
\n\tIdentify technical competence gaps for maintaining new equipment and communicate them to the Maintenance Supervisor or THD Manager.
\n\tTroubleshoot and resolve issues with remote monitoring and alarm systems.
\n\tPlan and manage workload effectively in collaboration with the THD Manager.
\n\tUphold safe working practices, adhering to KONE\u2019s maintenance and safety protocols to protect end-users and colleagues.<\/p>\n
What we are looking for<\/p>\n
Education<\/p>\n
\tN6 Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related qualification, plus an elevator trade test certificate.<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 5 years of experience in elevator installation and\/or maintenance.
\n\tExperience as a Field Engineer\/Adjuster in the Elevator & Escalator Industry would be advantageous.<\/p>\n
Skills & Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tStrong problem-solving and analytical skills to tackle complex technical challenges.
\n\tKnowledge of non-KONE (NKE) products is an advantage.
\n\tExperience with escalator maintenance is a plus.
\n\tExcellent communication skills for collaborating with teams and engaging with customers.
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
\n\tAvailable to travel on short notice to support teams with high-profile client requests or urgent requests in their respective regions.
\n\tAvailable to work overtime for urgent requests on short notice.
\n\tAbility to work independently from the line manager and coordinate with respective teams in their regions where support is provided.
