Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Fraud Detection & Prevention<\/p>\n
\tMonitor customer transactions for suspicious betting patterns, chargebacks, and identity theft.
\n\tUse fraud detection tools, data analytics, and manual investigation to identify irregular activity.
\n\tBlock or restrict accounts where fraudulent activity is suspected.
\n\tDevelop and refine fraud detection rules, alerts, and monitoring processes.<\/p>\n
Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tConduct ongoing risk assessments across sportsbook and casino operations.
\n\tRecommend and implement controls to reduce fraud exposure and operational risks.
\n\tCollaborate with IT, Compliance, and Operations teams to strengthen risk frameworks.
\n\tProduce detailed risk reports with key fraud trends and mitigation strategies.<\/p>\n
Investigations & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tLead investigations into fraudulent cases, collating evidence for internal decision-making or law enforcement.
\n\tPrepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies (e.g., FSCA, NGB, FIC).
\n\tMaintain accurate records of fraud cases, resolutions, and lessons learned.<\/p>\n
Compliance & Regulation<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with South African gambling regulations (NGB, provincial gambling boards, FIC Act, POCA, etc.).
\n\tSupport AML\/CTF monitoring, including suspicious transaction reporting (STRs).
\n\tWork with the Compliance team to align fraud strategies with licensing and legal requirements.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n
\tProvide fraud training and awareness to frontline teams.
\n\tWork with payment providers, banks, and external partners to resolve fraud-related issues.
\n\tAssist customer support in resolving disputes involving fraud-related complaints.<\/p>\n
Performance Metrics<\/p>\n
\tReduction in fraudulent transactions and financial losses.
\n\tTimeliness and accuracy of fraud investigations.
\n\tCompliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
\n\tEffective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
\n\tContinuous improvement of fraud prevention strategies.
\n\tAbility to handle sensitive information with discretion.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Forensics, or related field
\n\t3\u20135 years\u2019 experience in fraud detection, risk management, or compliance (preferably in gambling, financial services, or fintech).
\n\tKnowledge of South African gambling regulations and AML\/CTF legislation.
\n\tExperience with fraud detection software, data analytics tools, or case management systems.<\/p>\n
