Description<\/p>\n
\tStrong knowledge of plant anatomy, morphology, and taxonomy.
\n\tFamiliarity with Southern African flora.
\n\tExperience in herbarium practices and specimen curation.
\n\tAbility to use dichotomous keys and identification tools.
\n\tProficiency in botanical nomenclature and the ICN (International Code of Nomenclature).
\n\tFieldwork experience in diverse South African ecosystems.
\n\tReport writing and scientific publication skills (publishes semi-scientific and peer reviewed articles and publishes in journals with a high impact factor).
\n\tUse of taxonomic databases (e.g., BRAHMS platforms).
\n\tMentor and supervise postgraduate students (MSc\/PhD) in\u00a0Plant Taxonomy, Botany, Systematics or related fields.
\n\tInitiate and manage national and international research collaborations and partnerships.
\n\tAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
\n\tManages data, captures and shows advanced analysis, interpretation, and recommendations.
\n\tComplies with all occupational health and safety regulations.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tPhD or DSc in Plant Taxonomy, Botany, Systematics or related fields with at least 3 years\u2019 experience in a relevant scientific research environment, post MSc with a national record\u00a0 of accomplishment on the level of a researcher.
\n\tMinimum 3-5 peer reviewed publications or number of publications should be equivalent to what was required from master’s and PhD level for their field respectively
\n\tRecord of presenting research at national and\/or international conferences.
\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
\n\tExperience with proposal writing, field-based research, and stakeholder coordination.
\n\tProven record of generating research funding and collaborations.
\n\tProven experience in working with large teams and on multiple projects at the same time.
\n\tProven track record of PhD and\/or DSc student supervision in relevant fields of study.
\n\tMust have a Driver\u2019s license Code 8 or 10.<\/p>\n
