Purpose and role in the business:<\/p>\n
\tThe Financial Controller is responsible for managing all finance and accounting operations, coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and preparing monthly financial statements.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tManage the Sales and Accounts Receivable function
\n\tManage stock at port reporting
\n\tEnsure integrity of the General Ledger accounts for allocated accounts
\n\tPayroll liabilities oversight
\n\tManage the implementation, maintenance, and assessment of internal controls
\n\tSupport with internal and external audits
\n\tIndirect taxes \u2013 VAT and diesel rebates
\n\tManaging Bank and Cash
\n\tHead Office budgeting and forecasting
\n\tHead Office monthly reporting and variance explanations
\n\tDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and ensure quality control over financial transactions
\n\tApprove HO purchase requisitions
\n\tERP improvements and automation initiatives
\n\tAdditional controller duties as necessary<\/p>\n
Job Requirements
\nMinimum Requirements \/ Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
\n\tPostgraduate qualification (e.g., Honours in Accounting\/Finance or equivalent) advantageous.
\n\tProfessional accounting designation such as CA(SA), CIMA, or ACCA preferred.
\n\tMinimum 5\u20138 years relevant experience in financial management, reporting, and control.
\n\tExperience in the mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry sector (preferably within a mining operation) is highly advantageous.
\n\tProficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
\n\tAdvanced MS Excel and financial modelling skills.
\n\tKnowledge of IFRS and applicable tax legislation (VAT, diesel rebate, etc.).<\/p>\n
Technical \/ Financial Skills:<\/p>\n
\tStrong understanding of financial reporting standards (IFRS).
\n\tAbility to prepare and analyse budgets, forecasts, and monthly management accounts.
\n\tProven experience in managing general ledger, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
\n\tKnowledge of payroll accounting, tax compliance, and audit procedures.
\n\tExperience with internal controls, process improvement, and risk management.
\n\tSolid understanding of cost control and variance analysis.<\/p>\n
Analytical and Strategic Skills:<\/p>\n
\tStrong financial acumen with attention to detail.
\n\tAnalytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
\n\tStrategic thinking for aligning financial management with organizational goals.<\/p>\n
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:<\/p>\n
\tProven ability to lead and develop finance teams.
\n\tStrong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
\n\tAbility to collaborate cross-functionally (Operations, Procurement, HR, etc.).
\n\tDecision-making and problem-solving under pressure.<\/p>\n
Systems and Process Skills:<\/p>\n
\tHands-on experience in ERP system enhancements and automation initiatives.
\n\tAbility to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
\n\tStrong focus on process efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.<\/p>\n
