The role will focus on land use planning, human\u2013wildlife coexistence, ecological corridor development, and supporting community livelihoods that strengthen conservation outcomes. The coordinator will ensure alignment with Peace Parks Foundation\u2019s ecological linkages strategy, Ag\u00eancia Nacional de Avia\u00e7\u00e3o Civil (ANAC) priorities, and transboundary cooperation with South Africa and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n<p>Ecological connectivity and land use planning<\/p>\n<p>\tFinalise the Mozambique GLTFCA Ecological connectivity implementation plan and strategy in collaboration with the Geospatiel planning science (GPS) Department.<br \/>\n\tFacilitate the decision-making process to identify and develop an Implementation Plan for the second ecological connectivity focus area (Limpopo National Park \u2013 Banhine National Park as the first).<br \/>\n\tLead the approval and launch of district-level Land use plant, including:<br \/>\n\tApproval for Mabalane (approval)<br \/>\n\tMabote (launch)<br \/>\n\tNext EU-priority district (to be agreed for ecological connectivity).<br \/>\n\tEnsure integration of private sector investment promotion in the Limpopo land use plan and related Massingir processes.<\/p>\n<p>Human\u2013Wildlife Coexistence<\/p>\n<p>\tDrive the implementation of the GLTFCA Human\u2013Wildlife Coexistence (HWC) strategy, defining measurable targets (e.g., farms to be closed).<br \/>\n\tSupport development and monitoring of conflict-mitigation initiatives at farm and district level.<\/p>\n<p>Community Development and Livelihoods<\/p>\n<p>\tSupport the implementation of the Livelihoods plan for Chimangue and Machamba communities, facilitating relocation outside the park and ensuring long-term sustainability.<br \/>\n\tWork with district and community structures to align livelihoods with connectivity objectives.<br \/>\n\tPromote conservation-compatible livelihood opportunities that reduce external impacts on park and corridor areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Partnerships and Stakeholder Coordination<\/p>\n<p>\tEngage ANAC, district authorities, Non-Government Organisations (NGO), and private sector partners to secure buy-in for ecological connectivity.<br \/>\n\tFacilitate the process for the creation of a conservancy adjacent to Gonarezhou, including dialogue with Coutadas and community structures.<br \/>\n\tSupport ongoing steering and scientific committees, ensuring effective functioning, documentation, and follow-up.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting<\/p>\n<p>\tEstablish systems to monitor land use, corridor implementation, livelihoods, and HWC outcomes.<br \/>\n\tProvide monthly and quarterly reports to Peace Parks Foundation, ANAC, and donors with recommendations and progress updates.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Policy, Advocacy, and Capacity Building<\/p>\n<p>\tAdvocate for ecological connectivity integration in national\/provincial land use planning and conservation frameworks.<br \/>\n\tBuild capacity of government, park staff, and communities on corridor implementation and HWC mitigation.<br \/>\n\tFacilitate knowledge exchange with transboundary partners in Zimbabwe and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Job Requirements<br \/>\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and experience<\/p>\n<p>\tMinimum of a Master\u2019s degree in natural resource management, environmental planning, conservation biology, or a related field.<br \/>\n\tMinimum of 15 years\u2019 professional experience in conservation, land use planning, ecological connectivity, and community development.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated experience in leading large-scale land use or ecological connectivity initiatives.<br \/>\n\tProven experience in community governance, capacity building, and socio-economic development in rural landscapes.<br \/>\n\tFluency in Portuguese and English (Shangaan or other local languages will be an advantage).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Skills and Attributes<\/p>\n<p>\tStrong leadership and project management capabilities.<br \/>\n\tProven ability to manage complex stakeholder processes across government, community, and private sector levels.<br \/>\n\tExcellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.<br \/>\n\tTechnologically astute, with experience in Geographical information systems (GIS), land use planning tools, and data-driven reporting.<br \/>\n\tDeep understanding of balancing conservation imperatives with socio-economic development needs.<\/p>\n<p>Apply via company website ( N \/ A ) or<\/p>\n<p>jobs.mcidirecthire.com<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"http:\/\/jobs.mcidirecthire.com","_company_name":"Peace Parks Foundation","_company_website":"http:\/\/N%20\/%20A","_company_tagline":"Founded by President Nelson Mandela, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and Dr Anton Rupert in 1997 with a mandate to rewild southern Africa, Peace Parks Foundation set out on a mission that became Africa\u2019s largest nature conservation initiative.
