\tRCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized and focused Route Controller \u00a0within the baking business unit.
\n\tThe suitable candidate will be responsible to performs tasks \/ activities associated with the transportation and sales of bread and confectionary. Calling on customers (traders and retail chain stores), taking orders and delivering mainly from vehicle -frequently for cash and new customer acquisition.
\n\tThis role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Sales Manager.
\n\tThis role is a Permanent role.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
Education<\/p>\n
\tNQF level 4\/5\/6, matric and preferably a diploma in sales or marketing.<\/p>\n
Skills<\/p>\n
\tAbility to read, write, understand and communicate in
\n\tEnglish.Good numeracy
\n\tGood computer literacy \u2013 especially Excel and e-mail<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\tPrevious experience in supervising employees in sales environment, demonstrating good competence insupervision
\n\tTrack record on sales delivery
\n\tDriver\u2019s licence a prerequisite<\/p>\n
General<\/p>\n
\tExpected to work over weekends and public holidays
\n\tExpected to work overtime as required
\n\tExpected to be on stand by and to come in to assist in the event of absenteeism.<\/p>\n
Duties & Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0
\nEarly Morning Shift<\/p>\n
\tAssist despatch to ensure trucks loaded and despatched on time, prioritizing where necessary
\n\tEnsure all Drivers and VA\u2019s are present and arrange cover if absenteeism
\n\tDaily communication on Whatsapp regarding any orders that had to be cut, driver changes,\u00a0 absenteeism and late deliveries
\n\tConduct crate count and report on Whatapp
\n\tAccurately complete register
\n\tCheck crate sheet and follow up with drivers on outstanding balances
\n\tMeet with Sales Manager to discuss each day\u2019s challenges, the next day\u2019s planning and crate issues\u00a0
\n\tLiaise with Customer Service Centre regarding second deliveries
\n\tAt Despatch, check on BOT\u2019s (Bread on Truck), crate returns, bread returns and damages.\u00a0
\n\tAssist driver with action plan if necessary where BOT\u2019s, returns and damages are higher than the norm\u00a0 or if problems with crate losses<\/p>\n
Afternoon Shift<\/p>\n
\tHandover meeting with Early Morning Route Controller
\n\tFollow up on second deliveries, ensuring they leave on time
\n\tAt Dispatch, ensure correct procedure adhered to in terms of BOT\u2019s, returns, damages and crate\u00a0 returns
\n\tVerify earlier crate count
\n\tEnsure drivers are using the vehicle safe
\n\tInspect trucks for any new damages\/faults and report to Transport Supervisor
\n\tEnsure crate sheets being completed correctly
\n\tTrain new drivers to follow the correct procedures
\n\tEnsure drivers place order with Customer Service Centre timeously and before cash up
\n\tRemain on site until the last truck arrives, ensuring the cash is deposited in the cash office safe
\n\tReport problems or changes on Whatsapp before leaving<\/p>\n
Route Rides<\/p>\n
\tConduct 2 route rides weekly
\n\tComplete Route Ride Analysis form per route ride and give feedback to Sales Manager within 24 hours\u00a0 regarding the successes, challenges and threats on the route (pricing monitor; competitor information;\u00a0 crates baseline; mileage; time taken, etc.)
\n\tConduct Sales Analysis, using the data to inform action plans to increase sales and distribution\u00a0 efficiencies
\n\tWith the Sales Manager formulate a Sales Plan per route to drive volumes and customer satisfaction.
\n\tImplement the Route Sales Plan by utilising the Sales resources available including Sales Reps
\n\tVisit schools on routes to obtain participation in School\u2019s Competition
\n\tUpdate crate sheet
\n\tConduct follow up visits with Sales Reps and Sales Manager to ensure customer losses are minimised
\n\tGain 5 new customers per route ride
\n\tFollow up on lost business and if possible, regain the customer
\n\tEnsure customers are experiencing good customer service and if not, take action to improve it
\n\tLook for advertising opportunities and liaise with Marketing to obtain sign boards or similar material
\n\tWhere possible, facilitate COD customers to move onto JDE
\n\tMonitor competitor activities and take action to counter potential sales loss<\/p>\n
People Management<\/p>\n
\tSet daily objectives for the drivers and van assistants, ensuring full productivity
\n\tMonitor employee performance weekly and give regular feedback, taking disciplinary action when\u00a0 necessary and giving recognition where it\u2019s due.
\n\tConduct formal performance reviews twice yearly with all Drivers and VA\u2019s\u00a0
\n\tConduct team meetings with Drivers and VA\u2019s at least once a month to hear about challenges and\u00a0 concerns and assist to resolve the issues<\/p>\n

\tMust be willing to assist as a driver as and when necessary<\/p>\n
