\tRegistered with SANC as a Professional Nurse
\n\tProfessional Nurse qualification, and Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management \u00a0or an Accredited Management Qualification OR 5 years of leadership experience in a hospital, and Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing if managing a specialist unit\u00a0
\n\tA minimum of 5 years experience as a Professional Nurse in a hospital
\n\tA minimum of 2 years experience in a leadership role within a hospital
\n\tAuditing and accreditation processes
\n\tClinical risk management
\n\tComputer literate (Microsoft Office)
\n\tContinuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies
\n\tFinancial management
\n\tHealthcare industry
\n\tHuman resource processes including employee relations
\n\tInfection prevention and control
\n\tManagement of staff productivity
\n\tNursing functional knowledge
\n\tPatient complaint management
\n\tRelevant nursing legislation<\/p>\n

\nDuties and Responsibilities
\nMAIN PURPOSE OF JOB<\/p>\n
\tThe Unit Manager manages a specific nursing unit, e.g. a surgical ward, to ensure safe patient care and a positive client experience. They further manage human and other resources to ensure that staff are engaged and processes are optimised.<\/p>\n
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS<\/p>\n
\tEnsure safe patient care by meeting set clinical quality standards according to company policies and procedures
\n\tManage and mitigate clinical risks in the unit
\n\tLead and manage the staff in the unit
\n\tManage the unit’s operational and capital expenses according to financial and budget guidelines and ensure optimal utilisation of resources
\n\tManage and actively contribute to a positive client experience in the hospital
\n\tSupport the achievement of interdepartmental outcomes
\n\tManage key stakeholder relations<\/p>\n
