\tWe are seeking an experienced and self-driven Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Officer to take full ownership of HSE operations on a construction site. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the company\u2019s Business Operating System (BOS) and ensuring strict compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and ISO standards.
\n\tThis is a hands-on, site-based role suited to a highly competent professional who can work independently, manage safety operations without daily supervision, and provide expert guidance to site management and subcontractors.<\/p>\n
Job Requirements<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tImplement and maintain HSE elements of the Business Operating System (BOS) across all site activities.
\n\tLead and oversee all health, safety, and environmental initiatives on site to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
\n\tConduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
\n\tMonitor and manage sub-contractor compliance, ensuring adherence to HSE policies and procedures.
\n\tSupport and guide site teams in achieving and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification.
\n\tInvestigate incidents and non-conformances, recommending corrective and preventative actions.
\n\tDeliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety training to promote a strong safety culture on site.
\n\tContribute to continuous improvement through efficiency gains, cost reduction, and risk minimisation.
\n\tAct as the primary HSE liaison with clients, professional teams, and internal stakeholders.<\/p>\n
RequirementsQualifications & Certifications:<\/p>\n
\tSACPCMP Registration (valid for 5+ years)
\n\tSAMTRAC or NEBOSH Certification
\n\tHazard Identification and Risk Assessment<\/p>\n
Beneficial& Certifications:<\/p>\n
\tLegal Liability Certificate
\n\tFall Protection Plan Training
\n\tIncident Investigation Certification
\n\tFirst Aid Certification<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 5+ years\u2019 technical experience as an HSE Officer in the Building Construction Sector.
\n\tProven track record of independently managing HSE on active construction sites.<\/p>\n
Key Competencies & Attributes<\/p>\n
\tStrong understanding of South African HSE legislation, Applicable By-Laws, standards, and best practices.
\n\tProven ability to work independently under pressure and make sound decisions on site.
\n\tExcellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to advise and influence site management and subcontractors.
\n\tAnalytical and detail-oriented approach to risk management and incident prevention.<\/p>\n

\tMust have a valid driver\u2019s licence and own reliable transport.
\n\tMust reside within Gauteng.<\/p>\n
