The Contracts Manager leads a team of contract specialists, contract administrators and quantity surveyors focused on the management of construction, services and material\/equipment supply and installation contracts during the execution of the project and has vital responsibilities in carrying a project to an on-time, on-budget completion. The Contracts Manager is the owner of the entire contracting process, both pre and post-award activities.<\/p>\n
Key responsibilities include:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tNegotiating the Terms and Conditions in contracts and ensuring compliance with the Terms and Conditions, including documenting and agreeing on any changes that may arise during implementation or execution phases
\n\tSystematically and efficiently managing contract formation, execution\/administration, and analysis for the purpose of maximising financial, scope and schedule related performance and minimising risk
\n\tLeading end-to-end processes including document preparation, bid evaluation, and award recommendations
\n\tTaking an active role in the preparation and review of costing and feasibility studies
\n\tProactively monitoring the following
\n\tIdentification and mitigation of risks during contract formulation phase to ensure adequate risk assessment procedures are followed
\n\tTaking the lead with regards to accurate drafting of agreements and subcontracting agreements
\n\tAlways ensuring that Contractors and Subcontractors uphold standards and execute work according to the agreements put in place
\n\tPreparing and awarding contracts for execution
\n\tPlaying an active role in ensuring claims administration and contract administration processes are followed to the highest standards
\n\tRunning regular meetings with direct and indirect subordinates onsite to ensure alignment across disciplines and stakeholders<\/p>\n
Qualifications and experience<\/p>\n
Essential:<\/p>\n
\tExtensive EPCM experience, particularly with regards to Construction Management and Service Contracts
\n\tProven experience managing a team of Quantity Surveyors as part of the Contracts team supporting the Contract Administrators
\n\tSound experience with reference to drafting commercial Terms and Conditions as well as understanding of accompanying legal implications
\n\tWorking experience in FIDIC For Construction Contract<\/p>\n
Brilliant understanding of the following<\/p>\n
\tProcurement processes
\n\tContract Management
\n\tAdministration of construction contracts
\n\tCorporate Governance principles
\n\tProven experience in the management of Contractors and Subcontractors onsite
\n\tSound understanding of construction contracts with the use of Bills of Quantities as a payment mechanism.
\n\tDispute resolution<\/p>\n
Preferred:<\/p>\n
\tRelevant tertiary qualification
\n\tLegal or arbitration certificate
\n\tContract Management experience in Africa (other than South Africa)
\n\t10 years\u2019 minimum experience in Contract Management within an EPCM environment<\/p>\n
