Your Challenge:<\/p>\n
Nursery Operations<\/p>\n
\tPlan and execute nursery operations using proprietary software.
\n\tConduct phenotypic and genotypic selections in field and greenhouse nurseries.
\n\tOversee planting, transplanting, leaf sampling, and harvesting activities.
\n\tScout greenhouses regularly to ensure optimal plant health and development.
\n\tOversee irrigation, fertilization, weed, pest, and disease control.
\n\tEnsure accurate and consistent data collection and database uploads.
\n\tImplement genotyping protocols to support marker-assisted selection.
\n\tOverall management of media preparation, embryo rescue, and growth chambers
\n\tMaintain inventory of chemicals and supplies for lab efficiency.
\n\tOperate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring timely service.
\n\tLead seed processing activities including preparation, sorting, shelling, and inventory management.
\n\tTravel to other nursery sites across RSA regions as needed.
\n\tWork overtime, weekends, and public holidays during peak periods.<\/p>\n
Team Leadership & Collaboration<\/p>\n
\tLead and supervise assistants and temporary employees.
\n\tProvide training, guidance, and daily support to TI partners and nursery staff.
\n\tCollaborate with global teams to implement process improvements and innovations.
\n\tFoster a diverse, inclusive, and multidisciplinary team environment.<\/p>\n
Quality, Safety & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure full implementation of quality management protocols.
\n\tEnforce safety operating procedures for all routine tasks.
\n\tWork with Genetically Modified Organisms in compliance with regulations and policies.
\n\tMaintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.<\/p>\n

\n\tTo Grow What Matters, You Will Need
\n\tRelated Degree – BSc Honors or MSc in plant Breeding, Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Biology, or related field
\n\tMinimum 3 years of agricultural experience; experience in maize trait introgression, genotyping, and tissue sampling is advantageous.
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license and willingness to travel during planting\/harvesting campaigns.
\n\tFluent in English with strong communication skills across diverse cultural backgrounds.
\n\tMust have the ability to meet deadlines, show attention to detail, succeed in a team environment, and use a computer and other data collection devices
\n\tStrong ownership and accountability for high-quality results.
\n\tExcellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
\n\tDemonstrated leadership, time management, and operational safety skills.
\n\tAbility to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
\n\tHigh energy, agility, and problem-solving capabilities.
\n\tInnovative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
