Mechanical Superintendent (Mining)<\/p>\n
\tOur client, a leader in the mining industry, is seeking a highly skilled\u00a0Mechanical Superintendent\u00a0to oversee the daily operations and mechanical maintenance.
\n\tThe successful candidate will manage teams, ensure compliance with mine health and safety regulations, and coordinate mechanical systems and piping projects to achieve operational excellence.
\n\tThis is an on-site contract role based in\u00a0Northwest.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma or Degree in\u00a0Mechanical Engineering\u00a0or a related field.
\n\t5\u201310 years\u2019 experience in mining maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
\n\tGCC (Government Certificate of Competency)\u00a0preferred.
\n\tStrong leadership, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of SAP or CMMS systems.
\n\tProven experience in construction safety practices, project management, piping systems, and mechanical inspections.<\/p>\n
Roles and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Maintenance Management<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
\n\tOversee daily maintenance of fixed and mobile plant equipment such as crushers, conveyors, pumps, loaders, and haul trucks.
\n\tMinimise equipment downtime and ensure quick turnaround on breakdowns.<\/p>\n
Team Leadership<\/p>\n
\tSupervise and mentor mechanical foremen, artisans, and technicians.
\n\tConduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n
Planning & Scheduling<\/p>\n
\tCollaborate with planners to schedule maintenance shutdowns and repairs.
\n\tEnsure the availability of spare parts and tools.
\n\tCoordinate with production teams to reduce operational disruptions.<\/p>\n
Compliance & Safety<\/p>\n
\tEnsure all mechanical work complies with mine health and safety regulations.
\n\tConduct risk assessments, enforce safe work procedures, and lead incident investigations with corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Budgeting & Cost Control<\/p>\n
\tManage maintenance budgets and control costs effectively.
\n\tMonitor equipment lifecycle costs and recommend replacements or upgrades.
\n\tSource and evaluate suppliers and contractors.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Documentation<\/p>\n
\tMaintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
\n\tAnalyse equipment performance data to generate KPIs.
\n\tReport on equipment availability, reliability, and maintenance efficiency.<\/p>\n
