Job Description
\nSCOPE:<\/p>\n
\tAdmission of the patient into the acute or chronic treatment center, recording and recapping of medical and surgical history
\n\tObtain patient information and inform billing department according to unit protocol
\n\tUpdating this information as the need arises according to unit protocol
\n\tObtain a Dialysis Prescription from the treating Nephrologist or Physician
\n\tEnsure that the dialysis machine has been disinfected before use
\n\tLining and priming of machines with correct consumables
\n\tWeighing the patient and calculating the dry weight and fluid removal
\n\tMonitoring and recording of baseline vital signs.
\n\tCarry out all procedures strictly in accordance with NephroCare Standard Good Dialysis Care (ZA-CI-09-03) and NephroCare Standard Hygiene and Infection Control (ZA-CI-09-04) and NephroCare Standard Water Concentrate and Dialysis Fluid for Haemodialysis and Related Therapies (ZA-CI-10-03)
\n\tRecord and Report all patient data accurately using the Database Euclid and TDMS
\n\tAdministration of prescribed medication as per doctor\u2019s orders
\n\tDisinfect the machines as per protocol
\n\tEducation of patient on renal disease aetiology and treatment modes, blood results, support services and dietary restrictions
\n\tUpdate all patient files frequently and document all incidents to ensure medico legal requirements are met
\n\tStock ordering and control as delegated by the unit manager
\n\tEnvironmental safety and Infection control must be adhered
\n\tComply with Immunization policy \u00a0
\n\tComply with all FMC SOP\u2019s
\n\tAny other duties assigned from time to time by the Clinic Head Nurse within the Scope of Practice of the Registered Nurse<\/p>\n
Required training and education:<\/p>\n
\tUniversity degree or equivalent diploma Registered General Nurse diploma at SANC<\/p>\n
Required personal competencies:<\/p>\n
\tRespecting the integrity of the patient-physician relationship
\n\tCollaborating with care teams
\n\tTreating all patients with dignity and respect
\n\tActing ethically, fairly, courteously, competently, and proactively
\n\tTreating patient safety as a priority
\n\tComplying with the law and our policy regarding adverse event reporting and product complaints<\/p>\n
Functional knowledge:<\/p>\n
\tKnowledge of renal anatomy and physiology
\n\tAetiology and Pathophysiology of the renal disease and treatment modalities
\n\tClinical skills must include: Aseptic techniques, Infection control standards, Venepuncture, Vital sign monitoring, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
\n\tAccurate, precise recording keeping, data capturing and monthly qualitative dialysis assessments , disinfection and maintenance record keeping.
\n\tMaintain a safe and comfortable environment
\n\tKeep the equipment, duty room and trolleys clean and stocked
\n\tCheck daily the resuscitation trolley to ensure that it is in optimal working condition.
\n\tAdminister blood products as per doctors\u2019 orders, following protocol and record vital signs and report any adverse reaction<\/p>\n
