\tDuring this 12-month Development opportunity, successful candidates are placed at inspection-points in various regions under the mentorship of PPECB specialists.\u00a0
\n\tStudents are exposed to quality assurance practices applicable to specific perishable products (i.e. citrus, grapes, etc.).<\/p>\n
Accredited facilitators provide formal theoretical training on:<\/p>\n
\tExport legislation and certification
\n\tFactors influencing exports
\n\tFood safety
\n\tProduct knowledge
\n\tCold chain management
\n\tTotal quality management systems and viability
\n\tRecent innovations
\n\tA nominal amount is provided in the form of a stipend to assist with the students\u2019 costs
\n\tStudents are placed close to where they reside; However, due to the seasonal nature of the industry out-placement can be required.<\/p>\n
Job Requirements<\/p>\n
Are you in possession of a completed 3-year national qualification (minimum) in one of the following fields:<\/p>\n
\tAgricultural Sciences
\n\tFood Technology
\n\tEnvironmental Health
\n\tDo you have a strong academic history?
\n\tDo you have strong interpersonal skills?
\n\tAre you competent in the use of the English language?
\n\tAre you currently unemployed?<\/p>\n

The PPECB also delivers inspection and food safety services assigned by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) under the APS Act, No.119 of 1990. The presence of the PPECB in the export industry is furthermore enhanced by its recognition as an approved third country under the European Commission Regulation 543 of 2011.
