\tA Grade 12 Certificate
\n\tA Traffic Officers Diploma Registration as Traffic Officer with the Department of Transport A Code B\/EB driver\u2019s licence
\n\tA Grade B driving licence Examiner will be an added advantage
\n\tPeace Officer Certificate\/valid SAPS clearance (SAPS69i) not older than 4 months
\n\tMinimum of 3 years\u2019 relevant experience\u00a0
\n\tAbility to communicate in both isiZulu and English Problem solving skills, writing skills, computer knowledge and knowledge of NRTA 93\/96 Be physically fit and able bodied
\n\tNo criminal records or pending cases.<\/p>\n
Key performance areas:<\/p>\n
\tLaw enforcement and enforcement of Municipal bylaws
\n\tCoordinate specific activities associated with controlling traffic flow and public safety
\n\tTraffic controlling and escorting
\n\tPerform point duties, process warrants of arrest and perform other traffic related duties
\n\tCommunicate with the control room and attend to traffic bottlenecks caused through accidents, breakdowns, or peak hour congestion
\n\tUse hand signals to communicate with drivers and pedestrians, direct diverting, stopping, and control traffic flow Interact with the control room for specific services
\n\tPatrol and communicate with the offenders and interact with the control room of South Africa Police Services to facilitate arrest for more serious offences
\n\tParticipate in routine checks, stop vehicles, and conduct inspection of driver\u2019s licences, vehicle registration and roadworthiness requirements and attend to specific infringements of road safety rules Issue fines, warnings and summons on offenders and execute warrant of arrest
\n\tPerform any other functions as directed by Chief Traffic Officer and Supervisors
\n\tCommunicate with control room through the two-way radio and attend to traffic bottlenecks caused through accidents, breakdowns, or peak hour congestion more especially on festive seasons
\n\tSet up and operate speed timing devises, stop offenders, and communicate an offence or provide the necessary evidence e.g. electronic recording of speed prior to issuing the fine\/summon
\n\tAttend to documentation and notification procedures, serve summons, compliance orders, execute warrants of arrests and prepare statements
\n\tAttend courts and provide evidence in respect of the charges to defend actions
\n\tMonitor the local area and attend to specific security operations and Acts on situations\/behaviour deemed to be inappropriate or non-conforming
\n\tPatrol and observe the streets and suburbs areas and identify with non-conforming practises
\n\tAct on distress calls or information related to crime in progress, communicate with control room to establish location and details and execute specific policing sequences on the scene (crowd control, arrests, etc.)
\n\tCommunicate with an offender and\/or interact with control room or SAPS\/EMRS\/FIRE to facilitate arrest for more serious offences
\n\tData capturing (all the infringements)
\n\tAssist pound master\/rangers impounding cattle on the public road
\n\tComplete specific reports, statutory documentation, and registers Record statements of witnesses and offenders or complete details of traffic and other related offences\/contraventions prior to issuing fines
\n\tUpdate the occurrence book inserting details of incidents and activities attended to completing procedural documentation (vehicle Log sheet, time sheets, statements, inspection checklist) inserting appropriate details
\n\tAs per legislation in terms of requirements of Road Traffic Act93\/96
\n\tUse of hand signals to communicate with drivers and pedestrians, direct, divert, stop, and control the traffic flow
\n\tBasic examiners duties and other traffic section related duties when required by the supervisor
\n\tCarry out any other lawful duties as instructed by the superior<\/p>\n
