Description<\/p>\n
\tThe Salvage Manager is responsible for maximizing value recovery from damaged, stolen, or written-off assets through strategic salvage operations. This includes oversight of vendors, auctions, recoveries, and compliance with regulatory and ethical guidelines. The role plays a key part in minimizing claim costs, enhancing recovery revenue, and ensuring operational transparency across the salvage lifecycle.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tSalvage & Recovery Operations
\n\tManage salvage processes across asset categories (e.g., motor vehicles, electronics, property)
\n\tCoordinate asset inspections, valuations, and disposals through certified vendors or auctions
\n\tTrack salvage trends, residual values, and potential fraud indicators
\n\tOversee end-to-end documentation for all asset recoveries
\n\tStakeholder & Vendor Engagement
\n\tBuild and manage relationships with salvage agents, recyclers, towing companies, auction houses
\n\tNegotiate service-level agreements (SLAs), pricing, and payment terms with vendors
\n\tCollaborate with claims, underwriting, legal, and finance departments
\n\tStrategic Oversight
\n\tDevelop and implement salvage policies, procedures, and cost recovery strategies
\n\tAnalyse salvage performance reports to identify profit optimization opportunities
\n\tLead salvage forecasting, budgeting, and reconciliation activities
\n\tCompliance & Audit
\n\tEnsure salvage handling is fully aligned with local regulations and internal audit requirements
\n\tMaintain clean audit trails for all salvage transactions and asset disposals
\n\tEnforce environmental, legal, and ethical handling of hazardous or sensitive assets<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
\tBachelor’s degree
\n\tMatric \/ Equivalent
\n\tMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in salvage operations, asset recovery, or claims management
\n\tProven vendor management and negotiation expertise
\n\tStrong knowledge of asset valuation methods and disposal processes
\n\tUnderstanding of applicable compliance frameworks (e.g., POPIA, TCF, asset disposal laws)
\n\tCore Competencies

\n\tStrong attention to detail with sound analytical judgment
\n\tExcellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
