The perfect candidate will be required to conduct wetland specialist assessments predominantly within South Africa, with opportunities across Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Job Requirements<\/p>\n<p>\tIndependently plan and conduct scientifically defendable national and international field surveys for data collection in support of specialist studies.<br \/>\n\tApply WET-Services Series (including wetland health, functionality and sensitivity).<br \/>\n\tAssistance with wetland offset strategies.<br \/>\n\tConduct wetland monitoring within South Africa.<br \/>\n\tCarry out field work under strenuous conditions.<br \/>\n\tIdentify and delineate wetlands in accordance with the South African Practical Field Procedure for Identification and Delineation of Wetlands and Riparian Areas (DWAF, 2005).<br \/>\n\tConduct and manage wetland impact assessments as part of a project.<br \/>\n\tSensitivity analysis and recommendations.<br \/>\n\tCompile and review scientific reports for submission to clients and\/or legal authorities; and<br \/>\n\tConduct Risk Assessments in support of water use authorisation processes.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>\tBSc. degree (Honours\/MSc preferred) in Environmental Sciences\/ Soil Science.<br \/>\n\tAccredited wetland courses would be advantageous such as WET-Health method described by Macfarlane et al., (2020).<br \/>\n\tHydropedology background and vegetation identification is preferred.<br \/>\n\tRegistered as a Professional Scientist (preferred); and<br \/>\n\t2\u20135 years of work experience in a consulting environment or a related field.<\/p>\n<p>Skills and Knowledge<\/p>\n<p>\tSpecialist knowledge of international wetland assessments would be advantageous, including Identifying and delineating wetlands in accordance with the \u2018United States\u2019 Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual (USEPA, 2010);<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of general Environmental Management principles.<br \/>\n\tDetailed understanding and application of research methodologies.<br \/>\n\tExcellent report writing skills.<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of Project Management (Financial Management).<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of vegetation classification, AIP management and rehabilitation would be advantageous.<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of hydropedology would be advantageous; and<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of Wetland Offsetting.<\/p>\n<p>Apply via company website ( http:\/\/www.digbywells.com ) or<\/p>\n<p>jobs.mcidirecthire.com<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"http:\/\/jobs.mcidirecthire.com","_company_name":"Digby Wells Environmental","_company_website":"http:\/\/www.digbywells.com","_company_tagline":"Digby Wells Environmental is a South African company with international expertise in providing Environmental and Social services to South African and International clients, with the focus predominantly on the Mineral Resources and Energy sectors in Africa.
