\tThe Assistant Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in supporting the efficient and safe operation of the fleet by coordinating and overseeing maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate records.
\n\tThis role is responsible for assisting in the planning and scheduling of vehicle servicing, managing documentation and service provider interactions, and contributing to cost control and operational excellence.
\n\tThrough proactive monitoring and hands-on support, the Assistant Maintenance Manager helps uphold vehicle reliability, safety standards, and workshop integrity.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Job Objectives\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tThe Assistant Maintenance Manager is accountable for the below activities;\u00a0
\n\tAssist in planning and scheduling fleet servicing and maintenance.
\n\tSupport the approval process for repair and maintenance invoices.
\n\tMonitor vehicle licensing and ensure timely renewals.
\n\tHelp manage vehicle trip sheets and parts gate pass documentation.
\n\tConduct spot checks on completed work versus service provider quotes.
\n\tLiaise with tyre service providers to monitor tyre condition and usage.
\n\tAssist in receiving new vehicles and coordinating fitments.
\n\tOversee weekly tyre scrap processes and reporting.
\n\tSupport the management of on-site service providers.
\n\tAssist with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) compliance and workshop housekeeping.
\n\tCoordinate with off-site service providers for vehicle repairs when needed.
\n\tAssist in arranging and following up on accident repairs.
\n\tProvide support during roadside incidents and accident reporting.
\n\tCapture and maintain records of services (e.g., brakes, A-services, COF, trailer licenses) on Mix Telematics.
\n\tAssist with cost control initiatives.
\n\tMechanical and cosmetic inspection on all horse, trucks, rigids and molls.
\n\tLoad body inspections internal and external.
\n\tCheck all truck fire extinguishers are valid and up to date.<\/p>\n
Qualifications\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tMinimum requirement: Grade 12 and a qualified Diesel Mechanic.<\/p>\n
Experience\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tA successful track record at management level in a similar position is essential.
\n\tExposure to budgeting, cost tracking, or service provider management is beneficial.
\n\tTechnical knowledge about the industry will be an advantage.<\/p>\n
Knowledge and Skills\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tThorough working knowledge of disciplinary \/ grievance handling procedures.
\n\tGood interpersonal skills at management and staff level.
\n\tTeam leadership and management skills are essential.<\/p>\n
