In addition, provide functional and academic leadership across campuses in respect of Research, Innovation, Community Engagement and Postgraduate Studies.<\/p>\n<p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n<p>Strategic Development<\/p>\n<p>\tCo- determine faculty strategy and joint accountability for the implementation thereof.<br \/>\n\tJointly accountable for the successful implementation of the NWU Research and Innovation strategy and the NWU.<br \/>\n\tTeaching and Learning strategy.<br \/>\n\tJointly accountable for successful implementation of the overall NWU strategy.<br \/>\n\tTranslate the Faculty strategy into site implementation plans and operationalise<\/p>\n<p>Operational Management<\/p>\n<p>\tLead and direct day-to-day operational planning, performance and quality ensuring alignment with the faculty plan.<br \/>\n\tParticipate in planning with Research Entities and Schools and the annual faculty calendar.<br \/>\n\tOversee and manage utilisation of resources and finances as allocated by the Executive Dean.<br \/>\n\tDeputise for the Executive Dean.<br \/>\n\tAccountable across campuses as Chairperson of relevant faculty board committee(s).<\/p>\n<p>Research and Innovation<\/p>\n<p>\tMaintain a research environment and support infrastructure enabling world-class research.<br \/>\n\tImplement inter-and trans-disciplinary research that differentiates the NWU nationally and internationally.<br \/>\n\tParticipate in national and international collaboration addressing NWU niche research areas.<br \/>\n\tContinuous improvement of research outputs (quality and number) to positively impact national and international standing.<br \/>\n\tPromote the faculty through market trends and needs identification<br \/>\n\tImplementation and management of innovative post graduate programs which address the national and international needs.<br \/>\n\tClustering research and innovation appropriately around agreed research themes focusing on national and international imperatives.<br \/>\n\tCoordinate fundamental research, applied research, research in application, curiosity- driven research, blue skies research and directed research<br \/>\n\tFacilitate differentiation and third- and fifth stream revenue generation through innovation and commercialization.<\/p>\n<p>Community Engagement<\/p>\n<p>\tDrive community engagement initiatives that are integrated with research &amp; innovation as well as teaching &amp; learning.<br \/>\n\tSocially responsive local community projects, supportive of faculty objectives and departmental programme content.<\/p>\n<p>Student Relations<\/p>\n<p>\tLiaise with students and parents, build relationships and resolve escalations.<br \/>\n\tIncrease students\u2019 identification and association with the faculty and its operation across campuses.<\/p>\n<p>External Relationships<\/p>\n<p>\tSecure funding, professional recognition, academic development, employment, through effective local and international relationships with peers, higher education institutions, research community, industry, professional bodies and community.<br \/>\n\tIn consultation with the Executive Dean, position and promote the faculty and ultimately the NWU Brand, through effective marketing and communication, relationships with local government, the community, industry, students, parents and alumni and other stakeholders.<br \/>\n\tPromote and drive internationalisation and commercialisation.<\/p>\n<p>Management and Leadership<\/p>\n<p>\tFaculty effectiveness and efficiency inclusive of infrastructure and facilities.<br \/>\n\tResearch entities, schools, programme effectiveness &#8211; joint accountability.<br \/>\n\tJoint accountability with leadership team for management effectiveness of the institution.<br \/>\n\tStakeholder relationship development and effectiveness.<br \/>\n\tCorporate governance conformance, reporting and risk management.<br \/>\n\tAccountability for the management of research ethics and integrity in all activities of the research, innovation and postgraduate environment.<br \/>\n\tCost management and cost- effectiveness.<br \/>\n\tFaculty processes and systems implementation, utilisation, effectiveness and efficiency.<br \/>\n\tDigitalisation and automation of faculty processes in the R&amp;I environment to streamline processes and speed up decision making.<br \/>\n\tMentorship and career development of staff members.<br \/>\n\tPersonal effectiveness, wholeness and development.<br \/>\n\tValues-based behaviour leadership and personal compliance.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum requirements<\/p>\n<p>\tA PhD in a relevant discipline\u00a0offered in the faculty of Health Sciences (NQF level 10).<br \/>\n\tMembership of appropriate academic and professional networks\/societies.<br \/>\n\tProfessional registration where applicable.<br \/>\n\tA minimum of five (5) years\u2019 senior\/middle academic management experience.<br \/>\n\tSignificant experience in higher education including experience in community engagement.<br \/>\n\tMust be an NRF-rated researcher.<\/p>\n<p>KEY FUNCTIONAL\/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n<p>\tThorough knowledge of the RSA Higher Education system.<br \/>\n\tWell- developed information and communication technology proficiency.<br \/>\n\tAcceptable management accountancy proficiency.<br \/>\n\tAcceptable contract development and management proficiency.<br \/>\n\tAcceptable knowledge of approaches to student access and support and curriculum design and delivery within the\u00a0applicable academic fields.<br \/>\n\tAptitude in managing the research- innovation value chain.<\/p>\n<p>KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n<p>\tProfessional work ethic.<br \/>\n\tAutonomous, accurate and assertive.<br \/>\n\tResponsible, accountable, fair, transparent.<br \/>\n\tGood communication (verbally and written) skills;
