Requirements<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12, a recognised tertiary qualification in Building Science\/Architecture\/Construction Management\/Quantity Surveying
\n\t3-4 years related experience preferably in local government
\n\tMust have a valid drivers license
\n\tComputer literate, report writing skills, analytical skills, problem solving, people skills, ethical conduct<\/p>\n
Key responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tCoordinate activities associated with monitoring compliance with standard procedures, regulations and specifications of National Building Regulations and SABS Codes of practice with regards to the submission of plans for approval and construction of buildings
\n\tExamine and approve plans in terms of the relevant legislation.
\n\tMonitor compliance through conducting regular inspections to ensure no construction or building activity takes place without the approval of plans
\n\tPrepare and present investigational reports for non-compliance issues
\n\tIssue contravention notices and advise on corrective measures where necessary
\n\tConduct inspections to ensure all construction or building activity is in accordance with approved plans and issue occupational certificates
\n\tLiase with Town Planning section to ensure plans adhere to local zoning and scheme regulations
\n\tEnsure all building plans are circulated internally for comments from relevant sections within the institution
\n\tSupervise the maintenance and update of the plans submission register<\/p>\n
