\tThe CSIR has an internship opportunity in the Biorefinery Industry Development Facility, within the Chemicals Cluster.
\n\tThe purpose of this internship is to provide graduates with an opportunity to gain practical work experience through research and development of competitive technologies and innovative products under the guidance of researchers and engineers within cross-functional teams.
\n\tThis position is based in Durban.<\/p>\n
Key responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Under supervision, the Intern will be required to:<\/p>\n
\tAnalyse and interpret experimental results;
\n\tWillingness to learn about bio-refinery for industrial applications;
\n\tCompile technical reports and other project-related documents;
\n\tContribute to the planning and execution of experiments;
\n\tContribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures;
\n\tContribute and assist with laboratory inventory management;
\n\tTake responsibility and custodianship of the laboratory;
\n\tPrepare chemical reagents;
\n\tConduct routine general chemistry experiments.<\/p>\n
Qualifications, skills, and experience:<\/p>\n
\tA BTech in Chemistry or analytical chemistry.
\n\tMust have a `hands-on\u00a0approach with respect to equipment operation and working in the laboratory;
\n\tMust be Computer literate with the MS Office Package;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n\tExcellent communication skills (verbal and written);
\n\tThe following skills are required:\u00a0
\n\tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills;\u00a0
\n\tAnalytical, methodical, innovative skills;\u00a0
\n\tResults-driven, self-motivated, and a team player;\u00a0
\n\tPro-active and focused;
\n\tWillingness to learn and work under pressure;
\n\tAbility to prioritise and have a good sense of urgency and accuracy.
\n\tAll international qualifications require an evaluation report\/certificate issued by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).<\/p>\n
