Job Primary Purpose<\/p>\n
\tThe primary role of this position is to provide teaching, research, and leadership in Mathematics with a strong knowledge of Applied Mathematics.<\/p>\n
Key Performance Areas:<\/p>\n
\tProvision of theoretically informed and pedagogically sound teaching of Mathematics.\u00a0
\n\tResearch and the production of accredited research outputs. Postgraduate supervision leading to the graduation of Masters\u2019 students in the minimum time.\u00a0Well-developed research skills.\u00a0Some research skills.\u00a0Some evidence of sourcing of external funding or grants for research will be an added advantage.
\n\tEngagement, through which knowledge and skills are used to benefit the discipline\/ profession and the community.
\n\tThe provision of some leadership at the discipline and School levels.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tMaster\u2019s qualification and preferably a Doctoral qualification or progress towards a Doctoral qualification in Mathematics.
\n\tSome experience with the facilitation of learning, possibly\u00a0as a tutor, and preferably some teaching experience.\u00a0
\n\tSome evidence of research activity, such as published papers or conference attendance, which may be associated with postgraduate research.<\/p>\n
Key Competencies<\/p>\n
\tA sound\u00a0knowledge of the theory and application of the discipline.
\n\tGood interpersonal skills, including communication skills.
\n\tAn appreciation of modern theories of teaching and learning in Higher Education and some skills as a tutor.
\n\tSome research skills.
\n\tAn\u00a0understanding of the role of Universities in Engagement.<\/p>\n
