We are looking for an individual with strong leadership skills combined with a deep, practical knowledge and understanding of Broiler breeders. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the rearing department to ensure the delivery of healthy, uniform birds into lay, while maintaining the highest standards of biosecurity, animal welfare, productivity, and staff management.

Minimum Requirements\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\t5 years Experience as a Rearing Manager (or a similar role) in a Broiler Breeder environment
\n\tRelevant qualification in Agriculture \/ Poultry Production (advantageous)
\n\tExceptional people \/ team leadership skills – Coaching employees and developing your team to ensure they have the capability to meet the performance goals
\n\tCommittment to Health and Safety, Animal Welfare, Biosecurity and Quality standards
\n\tA good understanding of modern farming methods
\n\tExcellent computer skills in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
\n\tProficiency in English (written and verbal) is essential in this position
\n\tValid driver\u2019s licence
\n\tWillingness to work flexible hours and weekends<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0
\nSite Management<\/p>\n
\tManage the full rearing cycle from placement to transfer, ensuring optimal growth and uniformity
\n\tEnsure operational planning, placements and transfers are completed and implemented to achieve optimal production
\n\tEnsure smooth execution of bird movements and transfers to laying.
\n\tImplement and monitor rearing programmes in line with breeder guidelines and company standards.
\n\tEnsure correct feeding, lighting, vaccination, and environmental programmes are followed.
\n\tMonitor bird health, behaviour, and performance, and take corrective action where required<\/p>\n
Biosecurity, Health & Welfare<\/p>\n
\tEnforce strict biosecurity protocols at all times.
\n\tEnsure compliance with animal welfare standards, legislation, and company policies.
\n\tEnsure all livestock is treated humanely, and in compliance with company standards
\n\tWork closely with veterinarians and technical teams on health plans, vaccinations, and disease prevention.
\n\tEnsuring that cleanout and housekeeping duties are done properly (i.e. the houses are properly washed and sanitized at cleanout, grass is kept short, drains on site are kept clean, all waste and debris from the site is removed and buildings on site are maintained)
\n\tMaintain accurate health, medication, and mortality records.<\/p>\n
Staff Management<\/p>\n
\tAttending to HR\/IR matters (i.e. planning leave, time sheets, disciplinary measures, interviews etc.)
\n\tWork efficiently in a team environment with tact, patience, and a willingness to work with colleagues, ability to build relationships and be able to work under pressure
\n\tLead, supervise, and develop rearing farm staff.
\n\tEnsure staff are trained in biosecurity, animal welfare, health and safety, and operational procedures.
\n\tManage staff performance and productivity.
\n\tEnsure effective communication and teamwork on site.<\/p>\n
Health, Safety & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company HSE standards.
\n\tEnsure safe use of equipment, machinery, and chemicals.
\n\tInvolve the team by encouragement and motivating to deliver safety excellence and promote risk awareness by getting involved and following safety rules and identifying risks<\/p>\n
Administration & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tMaintain accurate production, stock, and performance records.
\n\tMonitor consumable usage and assist with cost control and budgeting.
\n\tWeekly reports as required by the operations manager<\/p>\n
