The Unit Manager will be responsible for coordinating Quality Nursing Care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical practice. The incumbent will be accountable for coordinating training, development and mentoring of staff in the Unit. The incumbent will be expected to apply and manage the best and most effective operational practice by focusing on the integration of people, technology and financial drivers in ensuring that Unit costs are maintained within budget. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Responsibilities and Duties:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tAdminister and supervise thus ensuring standards for quality nursing care are met in the unit, evaluate on an ongoing basis and take appropriate action
\n\tMonitor and enforce standards, procedures and staff performance. Manage unit activities including irregularities and policy violations and take corrective and follow-up action. Perform clinical instruction as necessary
\n\tControl drugs as per regulations of the Pharmacy Act (Act 53 of 1974), perform checks on drug totals and drug registers and ensure that procedures and recording are adhered to
\n\tRationalise and control emergency stock
\n\tStock control
\n\tMonitor and manage staff attendance and ensure coverage of the unit at all times. Allocate staff, based on workload and level of competence ensuring optimal staff usage and maintaining the stability of nurse\/patient ratio
\n\tPromote and maintain good working and interpersonal relationships with management, patients, staff, doctors and colleagues. Coordinate the activities of all hospital departments to provide uniformity of direction
\n\tDemonstrate professional ethics and leadership qualities. Maintain standards and conduct to the South African Nursing Act and SANC Regulations
\n\tConduct frequent ward rounds and provide top-quality, customer-centric service
\n\tEnsure processes are in line with the working procedures and policies of Busamed\u00a0<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
\n\tA relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing\/ B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF qualifications
\n\tRegistration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
\n\tPost basic qualification in Management will be an advantage<\/p>\n
Work Experience<\/p>\n
\tAt least five (5) years relevant experience
\n\tRelevant experience in Management and clinical leadership is required
\n\tAcute Rehab working experience is essential<\/p>\n
Knowledge<\/p>\n
\tComputer Literacy essential
\n\tSound financial knowledge and the ability to interpret financial data
\n\tExcellent organizational skills
\n\tExcellent interpersonal skills
\n\tReport writing skills
\n\tAnalytical thinking
\n\tMust be able to function effectively independently<\/p>\n
