Business Development\/Marketing<\/p>\n
\tProvide process engineering input to marketing and proposals by providing technical assistance to support Business Development and Marketing strategies
\n\tProduce cost effective, conceptual & timeous proposals
\n\tDetermine customer\u2019s requirements
\n\tCommunicate with customer and review customer\u2019s enquiry documents and evaluate requirements and constraints
\n\tDefine the process\/plant scope of work
\n\tProduce the conceptual design and generate alternatives
\n\tProduce and agree mass and energy balances and conceptual PFD\u2019s
\n\tContribute to basic design criteria document through preliminary equipment & motor list, preliminary control criteria and major equipment & material specification<\/p>\n
Project Life Cycle<\/p>\n
\tProvide Process engineering input to project implementation and Project set up
\n\tProvide input to generate scope of work, schedules and budgets
\n\tRefine scope of work, review contract and design discipline design criteria and engineering deliverables
\n\tDefine Battery limits and control and report scope variances
\n\tGenerate detail discipline schedules and review overall discipline requirements
\n\tContribute to procurement and identify long lead items
\n\tDetermine\/prioritize work breakdown structure
\n\tIssue data to planner
\n\tReview\/co-ordinate & adhere to schedule of implementation
\n\tControl and report variances
\n\tGenerate and develop detail discipline budgets and identify indirect\/resource costs
\n\tAdhere to budget implementation and control and report budget variances
\n\tConsolidate documentation for monthly project progress report
\n\tProvide input to monthly discipline reports
\n\tProvide feedback to functional manager<\/p>\n
Design<\/p>\n
\tGenerate the following engineering deliverables:
\n\tDetailed mass & energy balance
\n\tDetailed PFD\u2019s
\n\tDetailed equipment\/motor list
\n\tEquipment specifications
\n\tData Sheets (Develop & Approval)
\n\tOperation & Control Philosophy
\n\tDetailed functional specifications
\n\tWrite operating manual
\n\tGenerate detailed plant process guarantees
\n\tCheck and review design layouts, including vendor packages
\n\tAdhere to schedules and budgets
\n\tIssue, review and control final process design documentation
\n\tCheck and obtain approval of calculations and specifications
\n\tConsult with specialists for novel or unusual designs<\/p>\n
Client Relations (Internal & External)<\/p>\n
\tPrepare approved vendor list and issue enquiry documents
\n\tPerform technical and commercial adjudication
\n\tObtain client approval
\n\tParticipate in pre-award meetings, review quality plan and contract
\n\tReview quality\/expediting reports and witness key manufacturing hold points
\n\tProvide technical backup for expediting team
\n\tProactively maintain information flow
\n\tAttend co-ordination meetings
\n\tAdvise changes early
\n\tCo-ordinate deliveries
\n\tAdopt flexible approach
\n\tRespond to needs of other disciplines

Plant commissioning<\/p>\n
\tProduce and submit commissioning plan\/manual
\n\tDetermine critical path and establish commissioning sequence\/schedule
\n\tDefine and secure resources
\n\tDefine battery limits of commissioning
\n\tDefine commissioning systems\/procedure
\n\tProduce commissioning files, including commissioning documentation
\n\tEnsure commissioning meets project requirements
\n\tIssue remedial inspection reports during construction
\n\tMonitor installation and commissioning checklists
\n\tArrange and co-ordinate commissioning meetings
\n\tConduct on-site commissioning
\n\tProvide technical back-up for site QA team
\n\tAssist in performance testing in terms of design base
\n\tSupervise and train operating personnel
\n\tContribute to close-out report and adhere to close out procedures
\n\tProvide post-commissioning process support
\n\tEnsure plant optimization and plant operating analysis
\n\tEnsure regular visits\/communications with client<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
\tChemical Engineering or Extractive Metallurgy or Minerals Processing Degree from a recognized tertiary institution<\/p>\n
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
\tA proven experience of 6 to 25 years\u2019 experience executing projects in the EPC\/EPCM environment; ideally within the mining and minerals (preferred) or petrochemical sector.
\n\tConstruction & Commissioning -Understanding of on-site construction work such as commissioning or customers and suppliers\u2019 interactions
\n\tRisk Analysis – Ability to identify project and activates risk from any point of view including knowledge of hazard and operation HAZOP
\n\tValue Engineering – Ability to optimize a process by adding value either as saving in cost or simplifying the process
\n\tProcess Flow Diagrams – Ability to produce, understand and deliver Process Flow diagrams
\n\tTesting -Knowledge of testing techniques and procedures including specifications and interpretations of test works
\n\tEquipment & Components – Knowledge of process, control, quality, electrical etc. equipment specifications, suppliers and features (including equipment installation and components)
\n\tLegislation & Standards – Knowledge of sector specific law (e.g. Engineering, safety reqs, Audit regulations, Insurance laws etc.) and knowledge standard specifications (e.g. Plant layout requirements, etc.) including the ability to integrate these standards.
\n\tTechnical Documentation – Ability to create, understand and communicate technical specifications
\n\tEconomical Awareness – Knowledge of economic fundamentals and ability to make estimations and proposing alternatives
\n\tProcess Simulation -Ability to simulate processes by means of software or other methodologies
\n\tMass balance – Ability to calculate (using software and spreadsheets) the mass balance of a process
\n\tProcess Design Criteria – Knowledge of parameters required to design the process
\n\tPiping & Instrumentation – Diagram Ability to produce, understand and deliver piping and instrumentation diagrams<\/p>\n
