This position is responsible for conducting compliance risk assessments, supporting the enhancement of compliance systems and processes, and advising management in order to preserve the institutional brand.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>\tRelevant Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Finance, or related field<br \/>\n\tProfessional certification such as CRMA, CRM-Prac, CRM-Prof, or CIA<\/p>\n<p>IDEAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n<p>\tMaster\u2019s in Business Administration; Master\u2019s in Business Leadership; or MPhil in Internal Audit (or other related Master\u2019s degree)<br \/>\n\tBachelor of Laws (LLB)<\/p>\n<p>MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n<p>\tMinimum 8 years in a fully-fledged compliance environment<br \/>\n\tAt least 5 years\u2019 experience in:<br \/>\n\tGenerally Accepted Compliance Practice Framework<br \/>\n\tCombined Assurance Framework (CAF)<br \/>\n\tBusiness continuity, including practical implementation<br \/>\n\tContract management, including identification of risks before executive sign-off<br \/>\n\tProject management with measurable outcomes<br \/>\n\tInteracting across all organisational levels (At all levels within the institution)<br \/>\n\tExperience in serving on an oversight structure, even if as merely an internal role player.<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of higher learning policies, procedures, and legislation will be an advantage.<\/p>\n<p>IDEAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>\tHigher Education sector experience<br \/>\n\tUnderstanding of organisational strategy<br \/>\n\tRegistry systems and processes experience<br \/>\n\tExperience coordinating organisation-wide roadshows.<\/p>\n<p>MINIMUM KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>\tAbility to identify, assess and prioritise compliance risks across all areas of the university, ensuring early detection of gaps and vulnerabilities.<br \/>\n\tUnderstanding of end-to-end compliance workflows, from policy development and implementation to monitoring and corrective actions.<br \/>\n\tUp-to-date knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks impacting higher education, with the ability to interpret and apply legislative requirements effectively.<br \/>\n\tExpertise in designing, evaluating, and strengthening internal controls across academic, administrative, financial, and operational processes to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.<br \/>\n\tCapacity to critically analyse compliance processes and outcomes, measure effectiveness, and recommend improvements.<br \/>\n\tStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex compliance issues clearly and persuasively to varied audiences.<br \/>\n\tSkilled in leading compliance risk workshops, training sessions, and presentations that engage diverse stakeholders and foster understanding of compliance obligations.<br \/>\n\tAbility to prepare accurate and timely compliance reports, monitor performance against benchmarks, and track remediation of compliance gaps.<br \/>\n\tAwareness of emerging regulatory, institutional, and sectoral trends, and capacity to anticipate their potential impact on compliance requirements.<br \/>\n\tAbility to compare institutional practices against sector and industry best practice, and recommend enhancements based on benchmarking insights.<br \/>\n\tCapacity to design innovative approaches for embedding compliance into operations while minimising bureaucracy.<br \/>\n\tAbility to proactively identify challenges and develop practical, forward-looking compliance solutions that add value to the institution.<br \/>\n\tCompetence in aligning compliance activities with the broader institutional strategy, ensuring compliance is a key enabler of DUT\u2019s vision and mission.<\/p>\n<p>IDEAL KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n<p>\tExperience in the Higher Education Sector<br \/>\n\tInsights into organisational strategy.<\/p>\n<p>MINIMUM LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n<p>\tMembership, in good standing, with a Compliance Body (e.g. CISA).<br \/>\n\tCommitment to confidentiality.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MINIMUM TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE<\/p>\n<p>\tCompliance universe mapping experience, including tracking of legislative changes pertinent to a higher education institution.<br \/>\n\tExperience in the implementation of an compliance software.<br \/>\n\tMS Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint (Advanced).<br \/>\n\tFull value-chain compliance risk workshop facilitation, viz. from Pre-read to reporting.<br \/>\n\tInsights to the compliance universe and interpretation of regulatory prescripts, in the context of the institution.<\/p>\n<p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n<p>\tThe role demands the highest level of integrity and discretion, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly, ensuring that compliance and institutional trust are never compromised.<br \/>\n\tAbility to conduct ongoing scanning of the external and internal environment to identify emerging risks, supported by the facilitation of compliance risk workshops that engage stakeholders and generate actionable outcomes.<br \/>\n\tA commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of legislative changes, regulatory requirements, and best practices in compliance and risk management.<br \/>\n\tStrong insight into the interconnected processes of the internal audit function, with the ability to align compliance risk management activities with audit outcomes and recommendations.<br \/>\n\tFlexibility and readiness to work beyond standard hours when required, particularly during critical reporting periods, audits, or urgent compliance-related matters.<\/p>\n<p>KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n<p>Compliance Governance Documents:<\/p>\n<p>\tDevelop and implement Compliance Policy and Compliance Framework<br \/>\n\tAlign systems and processes with Generally Accepted Compliance Practice Framework.<\/p>\n<p>Statutory, Regulatory &amp; Policy Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:<\/p>\n<p>\tInterpret and track legislative changes and integrate into DUT systems.<br \/>\n\tCollaborate with Lines of Assurance (OHSE, IAF, Legal Services, Employee Relations, Registry, statutory auditors).<br \/>\n\tCoordinate compliance audits and report to governance structures.<br \/>\n\tEscalate non-compliance incidents appropriately.<\/p>\n<p>Stakeholder-Centricity:<\/p>\n<p>\tDevelop and maintain a Compliance Stakeholder Matrix (CSM).<br \/>\n\tMap stakeholder roles and responsibilities and align with best practices.<br \/>\n\tLiaise with internal and external stakeholders to drive a zero-tolerance culture toward non-compliance.<br \/>\n\tSupport statutory\/external audits.<br \/>\n\tCollaborate with Judicial Services to enhance compliance in student services.<\/p>\n<p>Compliance
