The role:<\/p>\n
\tThe Business Improvement Analyst is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing digital and analytical solutions that drive operational efficiency, enhance reporting accuracy, and support strategic decision-making across the business.
\n\tThe role requires strong technical capability, excellent data interpretation skills, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:<\/p>\n
Application Development<\/p>\n
\tImplement the Business Improvement mandate at operation by facilitating initiatives\/business case development and tracking BI improvement
\n\tDesign, develop, and maintain fit-for-purpose applications and digital tools to support business processes and operational improvement
\n\tWork with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions are user-centric, reliable, and scalable
\n\tProvide ongoing support, updates, and optimisation of developed applications
\n\tEnsure conformance to governance and project sign-off by identifying project risks and effective management and tracking of projects and value delivery
\n\tDevelop and implement communication and change strategy per initiative through facilitating BI communication at the operation and ensuring buy in and commitment on initiatives
\n\tContribute to the Operational Team cohesion and effectiveness
\n\tManage the control room and assist in compiling daily production<\/p>\n
Business Intelligence & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and manage Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that provide accurate, real-time insights for operational and strategic decision-making
\n\tEnsure data integrity, consistent refresh cycles, and alignment with business performance indicators<\/p>\n
Presentation Development<\/p>\n
\tCreate high-quality, visually strong PowerPoint presentations that clearly communicate analysis outcomes, trends, and recommendations
\n\tTranslate data into compelling narratives that support executive reporting, business reviews, and project updates<\/p>\n
Data Acquisition & Integration<\/p>\n
\tSource, extract, and consolidate data from various electronic and operational platforms (e.g., SCADA systems, operational portals, ERP systems, IoT devices)
\n\tDevelop processes and pipelines to automate data collection and ensure reliability of inputs<\/p>\n
Data Analysis & Insights<\/p>\n
\tConduct detailed analysis to identify performance gaps, bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities
\n\tValidate data accuracy and perform trend, scenario, and root-cause analyses
\n\tDeliver actionable insights and recommendations to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives<\/p>\n
Required Skills & Competencies<\/p>\n
\tStrong technical capability in app development (Power Apps or equivalent)
\n\tAdvanced Power BI skills including DAX, modelling, and dashboard design
\n\tExcellent PowerPoint skills with the ability to create clear, impactful narratives from complex data
\n\tStrong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
\n\tGood understanding of industrial data systems such as SCADA, historians, and digital operational platforms
\n\tAbility to work with large datasets and ensure accuracy and consistency
\n\tStrong problem-solving and process-improvement mindset
\n\tAbility to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
\n\tHigh attention to detail and strong organisational skills<\/p>\n
Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tDiploma \/ Degree in Engineering, Mining, Industrial Engineering\u00a0or\u00a0a related field
\n\tMinimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in the Mining, Process or Maintenance Engineering field within the Mining industry, of which 3 years should preferably be in Coal Mining in a Supervisory role
\n\tMinimum of 3 years Business Improvement experience or a related field
\n\tMinimum of 3 years Project Management experience
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license
\n\tIn possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness<\/p>\n
Advantageous:<\/p>\n
\tMine Overseer Certificate of Competency
\n\tUnderground and\/or Opencast Blasting Certificate
\n\tAutomation of production reports
\n\tCollect Relevant Information to produce presentations
\n\tEnsure contractor Compliance and governance
\n\tAutomation of reports from Power BI
\n\tGood working knowledge of the Coal Mining Process for both Underground and Opencast
\n\tComputer Skills \u2013 (MS Office Suite)<\/p>\n
