About the job<\/p>\n
\tSeeking an accomplished and strategic Head of Engineering & Maintenance to lead the Maintenance and Engineering Department of an organisation based in Port Shepstone.
\n\tThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team of artisans, ensuring that the plant is maintained to the highest standards. This role encompasses leadership and coordination across Ammonia Refrigeration, Mechanical, Electrical, and Boilermaking departments.<\/p>\n
Key responsibilities include:<\/p>\n
\tLeading and coordinating the workload across all maintenance and engineering functions.
\n\tPlanning, implementing, and ensuring the timely completion of jobs and minor projects.
\n\tOptimizing plant and equipment efficiency while minimizing downtime.
\n\tOverseeing training and talent development within the department.
\n\tManaging contractor engagement and team building.
\n\tProviding clear, concise instructions to engineering teams.
\n\tLeading research and development initiatives to drive innovation in design and processes.
\n\tEnsuring technical accuracy and quality in all departmental outputs.
\n\tCoordinating activities with other managers and staff.
\n\tEnforcing adherence to Health and Safety policies, procedures, and HACCP standards.
\n\tOverseeing job card distribution and completion.
\n\tDemonstrating flexibility to work extended hours when necessary to ensure project and breakdown resolution.<\/p>\n
Requirements and Skills:<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent) with a Management Development Program.
\n\tExperience with Ammonia Refrigeration (preferred).
\n\tMinimum of 5 years\u2019 management experience.
\n\tProven experience in a senior maintenance or engineering management role.
\n\tStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
\n\tExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team and cross-functional leadership.
\n\tHigh attention to detail and organizational skills for managing budgets, personnel, and schedules.
\n\tAdvanced mathematical proficiency.
\n\tRelevant training and\/or certifications in engineering or maintenance management.<\/p>\n
