Job Purpose:<\/p>\n
\tPlan and coordinates field production activities of pre-commercial and foundation seed with seed growers and plant operations, in order too meet the seed availability and quality standards required. Ensures the responsible use of human resources, equipment and materials.<\/p>\n
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tPlan and coordinate production planning, grower contracting, planting-, detasseling- , harvesting processes, cultivation activities that includes, fertilizing, weed, insect, irrigation control for foundation seed inbred increases, single cross make-ups and pre-commercial seed productions.
\n\tSupport field production for license hybrid parentals.
\n\tLiaise with Africa Foundation Area Field Manager to do grower selection, contracting and crop allocations as well as annual field reviews.
\n\tResponsible for all activities related to the delivery of high quality foundation seed. \u00a0This includes but not limited to pre-plant control, roguing (off type removal), harvest moisture control and field sampling.
\n\tCoordination with seed growers to ensure a smooth transition and flow of product from field to plant.
\n\tLead ESH efforts, provide assistance and arrange for resources to promote safety in field operations.
\n\tMaintain field operational records as required by the QMS management systems.
\n\tEnsure compliance with quality assurance standards and management system set by ISO9001.
\n\tRecord field data in Velocity platform, to manage productions effectively.<\/p>\n
HSE RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
\tMotivate field employees to wear the correct PPE
\n\tFollow Safety Operations procedures
\n\tReport all accidents or incidents immediately
\n\tParticipate in identifying hazards
\n\tParticipate in Tier meetings and monthly Health and Safety Meetings
\n\tMaintain a safe and orderly environment
\n\tUpon request participate in emergency response teams and any other safety or health group established by the site
\n\tParticipate in all required HSE trainings and educations
\n\tParticipate in all emergency drills.
\n\tBe part of the reviewing of field JSA\u2019s and Risk Assessments
\n\tArrange maintenance on all Bayer equipment
\n\tComplete checklists on equipment prior to use
\n\tEnsure grower employees know the hazards on Bayer equipment<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Competencies:<\/p>\n
\tMinimum a diploma or bachelor degree in agronomy or 5 year experience in seed production.
\n\tFluent in English
\n\tMS Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
\n\tExcellent interpersonal and communication skills
\n\tResults focused with ability to work on own initiative
\n\tStrong teamwork capability (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others)
\n\tMaking informed decisions on a timely manner.
\n\tSansor field inspection and Phytosanitory certification will be an added advantage<\/p>\n
