\tThe South African Sugar Association (SASA), has a Permanent opportunity within their Procurement Department for a Procurement Officer, based in Mount Edgecombe.
\n\tThe Procurement Officer will report to the Senior Procurement Officer.
\n\tThe South African Sugar Association (SASA) provides a range of specialist services that enhance the profitability, global competitiveness and sustainability of the South African sugar industry. The Finance Division provides a range of financial services to SASA, including a centralised procurement function.
\n\tThe overall purpose of this role is to provide SASA with a professional, compliant procurement service for the purchasing of goods and services at optimum value for stakeholder satisfaction through appropriate contractual control while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures.<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tProcess purchase requisitions\/purchase orders in accordance with the Procurement & Accounts Payable Policy and Procurement & Accounts Payable Procedures Manual
\n\tPrepare and maintain purchasing records, reports and supplier pricelists
\n\tWork with internal and external stakeholders to determine procurement needs, quality, and delivery requirements
\n\tExperience with Mechanical, Engineering, Lab equipment and consumables sourcing
\n\tAssist in the development of specifications for equipment, materials, and services to be purchased
\n\tDevelop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
\n\tAssist Procurement Manager to establish and negotiate supply terms and conditions and maintain supplier relationships
\n\tMonitor and analyse trends in SASA’s spending to identify areas for creating value
\n\tIdentify and evaluate potential new suppliers to provide alternative sources of goods and services
\n\tCost avoidance and cost reduction by developing and introducing new sources of supply
\n\tExperience in conducting cost analysis to determine potential opportunities
\n\tAssist Procurement Manager in monitoring and management of the preferred supplier database and B-BBBEE compliance of SASA’s supplier database<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
Education and Experience:<\/p>\n
\tA recognized BCom Degree in Supply Chain Management or relevant 3-year National Diploma
\n\t2-4 years relevant experience in a similar role
\n\tKnowledge of procurement methods and procedures including purchasing contract management
\n\tKnowledge of category strategy and management
\n\tKnowledge of and experience in the B-BBEE scorecard, with specific focus on the procurement element
\n\tKnowledge of Syspro will be advantageous
\n\tMS Excel and Word skills at an intermediate level of proficiency with experience in analysing pricing proposals
\n\tAbility to interpret and make decisions in accordance with legal requirements and policies governing the procurement of goods and services
\n\tPlanning procurement and administration processes to reconcile operational timescales and governance requirements
\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills
\n\tHigh attention to detail
\n\tCommitment to best practice<\/p>\n
