Package Engineer | Mining Industry\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tOur client, a leader in the mining sector, is seeking an experienced\u00a0Package Engineer\u00a0to provide specialised engineering support in the design, procurement, and integration of mechanical equipment packages used in mining operations.
\n\tThe successful candidate will ensure technical accuracy, compliance with industry standards, and effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers throughout the project life cycle. This position is based on-site in North West, Mooi Nooi,\u00a0 with travel as required.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
\n\t5\u201310+ years\u2019 proven experience in equipment packaging, preferably within mining or heavy industrial projects.
\n\tProficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA) and PLM systems.
\n\tStrong knowledge of engineering codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO).
\n\tExperience in equipment design, integration, and supply chain\/procurement processes.<\/p>\n
Roles and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tTechnical Specification Development:\u00a0Prepare and issue technical specifications and data sheets for mechanical equipment packages (e.g., pumps, compressors, conveyors, crushers) ensuring compliance with mining standards, codes, and project requirements.
\n\tDesign and Integration:\u00a0Coordinate design and integration of packaged systems into the overall plant layout, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and civil teams to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.
\n\tVendor Coordination:\u00a0Interface with equipment suppliers to review and approve design documents, drawings, and manufacturing data; conduct technical evaluations and support bid package preparation for procurement.
\n\tProject Execution Support:\u00a0Provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, and start-up of packaged equipment; participate in risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and design reviews.
\n\tCompliance and Standards:\u00a0Ensure all packaging solutions meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards specific to mining operations.
\n\tCost and Quality Management:\u00a0Manage cost sheets, perform trade-off analyses to optimize package design and cost-effectiveness; support quality assurance processes including testing and validation of components.
\n\tDocumentation and Reporting:\u00a0Maintain accurate documentation of specifications, design changes, and vendor communications; report progress and issues to project managers and stakeholders.<\/p>\n
