Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tLead formulation, trials and validation of new and existing value-added poultry products.
\n\tDrive continuous product improvement to meet customer expectations, quality standards and cost targets.
\n\tDevelop, maintain and manage technical specifications, ingredient declarations and labelling compliance in line with South African food legislation.
\n\tProvide technical support and oversight to internal production facilities and external co-packers, ensuring consistent product performance.
\n\tConduct sensory analysis, shelf-life testing and product benchmarking, translating insights into actionable improvements.
\n\tInvestigate technical deviations, complaints and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions.
\n\tProvide technical input into supply chain, procurement and marketing initiatives, including ingredient sourcing and product claims support.
\n\tCollaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Technical, Operations, Sales and Marketing teams.
\n\tMaintain strong understanding of trends, competitor technologies, and market innovation.<\/p>\n
Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies:<\/p>\n
\tBSc or BTech in Food Technology, Food Science or a related qualification.
\n\t4\u20136 years\u2019 experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably within poultry, meat or value-added protein categories.
\n\tProven experience in product development, formulation and factory trials.
\n\tStrong working knowledge of South African food legislation and labelling requirements.
\n\tExperience working with co-packers or multiple manufacturing sites will be advantageous.
\n\tStrong technical and analytical skills.
\n\tSound judgment and decision-making capability.
\n\tExcellent planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
\n\tAbility to influence and work effectively across functions.
\n\tHigh attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.
\n\tStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
\n\tHigh level of personal and professional integrity.<\/p>\n
