Purpose of the role<\/p>\n
\tReporting to the Operations Manager, the Section\/Farm Manager will be responsible for managing the production unit (Avocados) through the effective utilisation of all its natural, human and financial resources to maximise production yields and quality whilst controlling costs<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tManaging an Avocado Farm
\n\tManaging 80 – 200 employees
\n\tDirect Reports: 2 Supervisors, 1 Clerk and Drivers.
\n\tResponsible for the establishment of new and replanted orchards
\n\tResponsible for irrigation installation and management
\n\tManage full-year farming programme relating to spraying, picking, irrigation, fertilising, pruning and related activities
\n\tOversee maintenance and in-field repairs
\n\tManage the use of human, financial and natural resources
\n\tEnsure compliance with all farming accreditations and Health & Safety regulations
\n\tResponsible for application of legal and fair labour relation practices to ensure labour stability on the section
\n\tManage the disciplinary processes
\n\tManaging the land preparations plans or programmes.
\n\tImplement and manage the performance management system<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements<\/p>\n
Education<\/p>\n
\tMatric Certificate
\n\tDegree or Diploma in Agriculture or relevant qualification
\n\tTraining in the accreditations relevant to the production of export fruit and experience in the implementation of these accreditation<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\tOver 5 years’ experience in Management position and managing\/running a subtropical fruit farm
\n\tExperience in running a production unit
\n\tReporting experience is essential
\n\tWorking experience on Microsoft and D365 or ERP System essential
\n\tValid driver’s license and experience driving offroad
\n\tLabour management and basic labour laws
\n\tGeneral knowledge of the Health & Safety Act<\/p>\n
