Job Requirements<\/p>\n
\tHonours degree in Accounting, or Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences, or CTA
\n\tProfessional registration (ACCA, CIA, CIMA, SAIBA, SAICA, SAIPA)
\n\tEight years of managerial experience.
\n\tSeven (7)\u00a0years of experience in financial reporting, consolidated statements, and Management reports.
\n\tStrong communication skills.
\n\tExperience in the higher education sector will be an advantage.
\n\tRegistration as a Chartered Accountant will be an added advantage<\/p>\n
Duties:<\/p>\n
Strategic Financial Leadership<\/p>\n
\tProvide strategic direction aligned with University goals.
\n\tLead implementation of the Financial Business Partnering model.
\n\tDrive long\u2011term financial sustainability initiatives.<\/p>\n
Financial Management<\/p>\n
\tManage departmental income and expenditure budgets.
\n\tCompile institutional personnel, capital, and operational budgets.
\n\tDevelop financial control and savings measures.
\n\tSupport line managers with budget control and fund management.
\n\tMonitor expenditure against income and initiate corrective action.
\n\tDesign and maintain effective budget and forecast models, as well as ensure the implementation of an effective budget management system.
\n\tLead the preparation and oversight of institutional financial reporting in full compliance with all applicable reporting frameworks, including the development, review, and submission of IFRS\u2011compliant Annual Financial Statements (AFS). Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of all statutory and internal financial reports.
\n\tCoordinate, consolidate, and quality\u2011assure all divisional financial reports submitted to the Vice\u2011Chancellor, Executive Management, Council oversight committees, and other internal and external stakeholders.
\n\tGeneral Ledger Management<\/p>\n
Operational Management of Finance Function<\/p>\n
\tManage the performance output of the department.
\n\tMonitor activities in consultation with internal and external auditors.
\n\tAccount and Report finances in line with IFRS and DHET regulations.
\n\tOversee departmental administrative processes<\/p>\n
\u00a0Audit & Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tManage internal and external audits.
\n\tOversee implementation of audit findings.
\n\tManage portfolio risks and financial risk exposure.<\/p>\n
Governance & Accountability<\/p>\n
\tParticipate in governance structures.
\n\tReport continuously to EMC, Finance Committee, and Audit & Risk Committee.
\n\tEnsure compliance with the tax legislation for the university and all its subsidiaries and associates<\/p>\n
Human Resources Management<\/p>\n
\tProvide strategic input on staffing structures.
\n\tLead transformation, diversity, and inclusion initiatives within the department.
\n\tManage the performance, development, and productivity of the staff of the department.
\n\tOversee recruitment, retention, and succession planning of the department.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Relationship Management<\/p>\n
\tFoster and maintain alliances with internal and external stakeholders.<\/p>\n
