\nPURPOSE OF THE POSITION<\/p>\n
\tProviding quality service regarding teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community engagement within the Subject Group: Setswana and African Languages. This position is a junior lecturer\u2019s position.<\/p>\n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
\tTeaching a variety of Sesotho for Education modules within a multi-modal delivery approach of teacher training programs at under- and postgraduate level.
\n\tExpertise and experience of teaching Sesotho at school and\/or a higher education institution are required.
\n\tPursue own studies on a higher level (M.Ed.).\u00a0
\n\tActive participation in community-based or service-learning projects.
\n\tPlanning, organizing and record keeping as part of office and subject (module) administration in accordance with faculty\u2019s teaching policy and close collaboration with the subject group (meetings).
\n\tActive participation to operationalize the WIL program at all levels.
\n\tMinimum requirements
\n\tAn honours degree in Languages and specifically Sesotho and other African languages (NQF Level 8).
\n\tMust be registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE)
\n\tA minimum of two (2) years\u2019 experience teaching Setswana at secondary school level (Intermediate, Senior, and\/or FET Phase).<\/p>\n

\tMembership in professional bodies or other relevant affiliations.<\/p>\n
KEY FUNCTIONAL\/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES<\/p>\n
\tSubject knowledge in Sesotho
\n\tPedagogical skills: language methodology
\n\t\u00a0Assessment competencies
\n\tComputer literate (Microsoft word).<\/p>\n
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tHigh standard of work ethics.
\n\tGood interpersonal professional skills
\n\tAble to work individually as well as part of subject group (team).
\n\tAbility to create own structures, adhere to deadlines and work in a self-directed manner.<\/p>\n
