Job Summary<\/p>\n
\tThis role involves ensuring the organisation complies with all relevant financial and regulatory legislation, including FAIS, FICA, FSRA, POPIA, and the Insurance Acts.
\n\tThe Compliance Officer is responsible for developing and monitoring internal compliance frameworks, conducting risk assessments and audits, reporting to regulatory authorities, and delivering compliance training.
\n\tThe role also includes monitoring representatives\u2019 activities, managing regulatory submissions, and maintaining accurate compliance records.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities and Duties<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with applicable laws, including the FAIS Act, FICA, FSRA, the Insurance Act (Long-term and Short-term), POPIA, CoFI Bill and related regulations, directives and guidelines
\n\tOversee adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CFT), and Know-Your-Client (KYC) obligations
\n\tMaintain a thorough and current understanding of changes in relevant regulatory environments
\n\tMonitor and interpret regulatory developments and recommend necessary internal controls and policy changes
\n\tDevelop, implement, and monitor internal compliance frameworks, policies, and controls
\n\tConduct risk assessments and compliance audits related to client onboarding, needs analysis, product recommendation\/suitability, disclosures, recordkeeping, and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
\n\tMonitor the activities of Representatives and Key Individuals to ensure ongoing compliance with Fit and Proper requirements
\n\tPrepare and submit periodic compliance reports
\n\tIdentify, investigate, and escalate potential compliance risks and opportunities
\n\tAssist with reporting to regulatory authorities, including the FSCA and the FIC
\n\tMonitor the reporting of suspicious transactions (STRs)
\n\tKeep track of regulatory filing deadlines and manage a submission calendar to ensure compliance
\n\tDeliver training to staff and representatives on regulatory requirements and internal policies
\n\tEnsure proper documentation of compliance monitoring activities and findings
\n\tMaintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, correspondence, and decisions in line with legislative requirements
\n\tStore key compliance-related documents, including risk assessments, reports, and training logs for audit or inspection purposes
\n\tCapture and update information on internal systems regularly and accurately
\n\tBuild collaborative relationships within the team and across departments<\/p>\n
Qualification and Skills<\/p>\n
\tRecognised Law or Accounting degree (or other qualification listed on the FSCA\u2019s list of approved qualifications for Compliance Officers)
\n\tMinimum of 3 – 5 years\u2019 experience in compliance and risk management within the financial services industry (Cat I FSP)
\n\tRelevant knowledge of FAIS, FICA, POPIA, FSRA, CoFI,\u00a0FSCA directives
\n\tExperience with compliance tools, risk registers, and reporting frameworks
\n\tProficient in MS Office Suite
\n\tFamiliarity with compliance management software (advantageous)
\n\tAnalytical and problem-solving ability
\n\tStrong written and verbal communication skills
\n\tHigh attention to detail and organisational skills
\n\tAbility to work both independently and as part of a team
\n\tA valid driver\u2019s licence<\/p>\n
