PURPOSE OF POSITION<\/p>\n
\tTo deliver specialized, age\u2011appropriate critical care to patients with life\u2011threatening conditions, ensuring safe, ethical, and effective practice in line with South African Nursing Council (SANC) regulations. The role centres on stabilizing critically ill patients, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and safeguarding patient dignity and recovery in a high\u2011acuity environment.<\/p>\n
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS<\/p>\n
\tSpecialized Critical Care: Provide expert nursing care to critically ill patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
\n\tPatient Assessment & Management: Continuously assess, monitor, and manage patients with complex medical conditions such as acute respiratory failure, multi-organ dysfunction, and severe infections.
\n\tMedication & Treatment Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications and therapeutic interventions, ensuring strict compliance with SANC regulations.
\n\tClinical Monitoring: Track vital signs, laboratory results, and other critical parameters, responding promptly to changes in patient status.
\n\tLife-Support Equipment Management: Operate and assist in the management of advanced life-support systems, including ventilators, dialysis machines, and intravenous infusion pumps.
\n\tMultidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with the healthcare team to design and implement individualized care plans. Offer emotional support to patients and their families during critical care episodes.
\n\tDocumentation: Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records, capturing all aspects of care delivery.
\n\tInfection Control & Safety: Uphold hospital protocols and infection prevention measures to ensure a safe, hygienic, and compliant care environment.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
(Educational Qualifications & Experience)<\/p>\n
\tRegistered with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
\n\tPreferably have 2 or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
\n\tICU experience or ICU Nursing qualification are essential.
\n\tMinimum 1-2 years clinical experience in an ICU setting.
\n\tCompetence in patient assessment, clinical decision making and emergency intervention.
\n\tAbility to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced environment.
\n\tWillingness to work day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays and adapt to working in other areas of the hospital when needed.<\/p>\n
