Purpose of the role:<\/p>\n
\tTo assist the manager with the day-to-day management of all health and safety compliance matters. Hold the legal appointment in terms of the MHS Act regulation 2.17.1 (Appointment of Safety Officers). Carry out all duties and functions of the Safety Officer as contemplated in the MHS Act regulation 2.19.1.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tEffective implementation and monitoring of all safety processes.
\n\tParticipate in the internal risk assessment process.
\n\tConduct inspections to determine and improve the level of compliance with health and safety regulations.
\n\tInvestigate accidents and incidents.
\n\tInform stakeholders with regard to the status of health and safety at the Mine.
\n\tAccompany the inspector of Mines during compliance inspections on the mine and participate in DMRE enquiries.
\n\tParticipate in SHE-related meetings and safety awareness campaigns.
\n\tGather input\/data for SHE reports and statistics according to organisational requirements.
\n\tConduct internal audits according to organisational procedures and legislative requirements.
\n\tMaintain the SHE Risk Management System according to organisational requirements.
\n\tLog inspections, incidents, accidents, and audits.
\n\tEffective Contractor safety management.
\n\tEmergency Preparedness and Response.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma in Safety Management (NADSAM) or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety
\n\t5 years\u2019 experience in a Plant and Open Cast mining environment
\n\tRisk Assessment Training
\n\tEnvironmental Awareness Training Course
\n\tCOMSOC I & II (Advantage)
\n\tCompetent A Certificate (Advantage)
\n\tAdvanced computer literacy
\n\tAccident investigations (ICAM\/RCAT)
\n\tFirst Aid Training
\n\tOHSAS 18001 auditing skills (advantageous)
\n\tSound verbal and written communication skills in English
\n\tAble to work under minimal supervision<\/p>\n
