\tA Masters degree in astrophysics\/radio astronomy, or a cognate discipline.

\n\tEvidence of competence in administration of a course\/subject at departmental level.<\/p>\n
Senior Lecturer P7<\/p>\n
\tA Doctorate in astrophysics\/radio astronomy or cognate field.
\n\tAt least 5 years relevant teaching experience\u00a0
\n\tEvidence of managing a research program and some publications in accredited journal\/s.
\n\tEvidence of successful postgraduate students\u2019 supervision at master\u2019s and or Doctoral level.
\n\tEvidence of successful curriculum development and academic management.
\n\tEvidence of active participation in professional, industry and\/or community activities.
\n\tKnowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements.
\n\tExcellent computer skills.<\/p>\n
Recommendation\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lecturer<\/p>\n
\tProof of PhD registration and at least two years\u2019 lecturing experience at university will be an advantage.
\n\tAt least one peer-reviewed article in a scholarly journal
\n\tEvidence of postgraduate supervision<\/p>\n
Senior Lecturer<\/p>\n
\tNRF rating or demonstrate the potential for a successful NRF rating application.
\n\tMobilised research grant funding or have applied for research funding.<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities\u00a0
\nTeaching:<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and present a reflective\u00a0teaching portfolio which covers: Approach to teaching; contributions to curriculum development; design of learning materials; innovative pedagogy; student and junior staff mentoring; successful supervision of postgraduate students; formal participation
\n\tin teaching and learning development courses; Student and\/or peer evaluations of own teaching; Evidence of scholarship of Teaching and Learning would be beneficial.
\n\tProvide evidence of teaching modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as evidence of postgraduate supervision.
\n\tContributions to curriculum development.
\n\tDesign of learning materials.
\n\tInnovative pedagogy.
\n\tDemonstrate knowledge and experience in implementing quality assurance requirements.
\n\tEvidence of national and\/or international collaboration within the Physical and Earth Sciences fraternity.
\n\tStudent and junior staff mentoring.
\n\tFormal participation in teaching and learning development courses.
\n\tStudent and\/or peer evaluations of own teaching; Demonstrate the ability to teach across subjects.<\/p>\n
Research:<\/p>\n
\tDemonstrate evidence of continuous research productivity in the form of:
\n\tPublications in DHET accredited journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings, research papers presented at national and\/or international conferences.
\n\tContributions to scholarly books published by reputable publishers, in good standing with DHET and not linked to predatory practices.
\n\tHighlight evidence of managing a research program.
\n\tEvidence of external research fundraising.
\n\tProof of citations ( e.g. Scopus H-index); Evidence of scholarship of Teaching and Learning would be beneficial.
\n\tNRF rating is recommended OR demonstrate potential for obtaining and NRF rating within the next five 5 years.<\/p>\n
Community Engagement:<\/p>\n
\tSignificant involvement in discipline or departmental official activities and processes.
\n\tActive academic participation in workshops\/forums in higher education.
\n\tMovement towards recognition in the broader subject\/ discipline community.
\n\tExternal examining\/ moderating at other higher education institutions at UG and\/or PG levels.<\/p>\n
Curriculum development and accreditation<\/p>\n
