\tTo safely assist Qualified Artisans (Fitters, Electricians, Boilermakers, Millwrights) with maintenance, repairs, and installations of equipment and machinery, contributing to improved plant reliability and efficiency in an abattoir.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 or equivalent.
\n\tN3 Electrical\/Mechanical Certificate.
\n\tProven experience as an Artisan Assistant, preferably in a poultry processing or similar industrial setting.
\n\tSelf-motivated and ability to work independently.
\n\tDetail and accuracy orientated.
\n\tEffective communication skills.
\n\tWillingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
\n\tExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
\n\tSolid understanding of safety protocols and procedures.<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tAssist the mechanical fitter.
\n\tAdjust functional parts of devices, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
\n\tAlign new equipment after installation.
\n\tAssemble, install pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
\n\tClean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
\n\tPerform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
\n\tRepair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.
\n\tInspect fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
\n\tOrder parts from the store.
\n\tUse tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
\n\tOther relevant duties assigned.
\n\tComplete DMS check sheets & schedules.
\n\tOther relevant duties assigned.
\n\tEnsure corrective wearing of PPE.
\n\tAdhere to all H&S policies and procedures.<\/p>\n
