Job Description<\/p>\n
\tThe company currently has a vacancy for a motivated, professional and attentive to detail Health and Safety Officer to join their team and drive company Health and Safety initiatives and programmes.
\n\tThis position requires someone who is able to work in a fast paced, pressurized environment. The candidate will be based in Orkney (Vaal Reefs), however local road travel will be required between various sites and head office. (Welkom Free Sate, West Wits and Gauteng)<\/p>\n
The successful candidate will:<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with Company safety regulations and adherence to safety standards, including safety induction and training
\n\tPromote and ensure adherence to the safety policy and procedures
\n\tKeep management up to date and informed about legislative requirements regarding health and safety requirements.
\n\tCreate safety procedures and develop training programmes to enhance safe working conditions
\n\tReview and update emergency procedures as and when necessary
\n\tConduct site inspections and audits as required identifying and minimizing the risk to company and employees
\n\tIdentify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, investigate root causes and identify corrective and preventative actions
\n\tConduct workplace Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments
\n\tDesign and implement responses to the above mentioned HIRA\u2019s
\n\tInspect the place of work to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliances or process is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work
\n\tInvestigate any accident, near-miss incident, dangerous occurrence or occupational disease that occurred in the place of work
\n\tDesign and implement responses to limit or prevent a recurrence thereof
\n\tCompile and submit health and safety related reports to management and third parties
\n\tLiaise with Department of Employment and Labour as and when required i.e. regarding Sec 24 incidents.
\n\tResponsible for monitoring contractors and venders working on Isinyithi sites, to ensure that Health & Safety practices are applied and upheld at all times<\/p>\n
Qualifying Experience:<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 or equivalent
\n\tNational Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management (Comsoc, SAMTRAC for mining, SAMTRAC) or equivalent
\n\tComputer Literacy in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
\n\t3 – 5 years\u2019 experience in a production\/mining\/construction environment will be advantageous
\n\tRegistration with SACPCMP as CHSO
\n\tComply Works \u2013 HRM System
\n\tHands on practical approach to the job
\n\tOwn reliable transport<\/p>\n
