{"id":31080,"date":"2026-03-03T14:00:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T14:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/video-journalist-kzn\/"},"modified":"2026-03-10T00:24:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T00:24:20","slug":"video-journalist-kzn","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/?post_type=job_listing&p=31080","title":{"rendered":"Video Journalist KZN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Main Purpose of the Position:<\/p>\n<p>\tTo deliver stories and content of the highest audio-visual quality in accordance with SABC News and Current Affairs\u2019 editorial objectives and in fulfilment of its public mandate obligation<\/p>\n<p>Key Accountabilities:<\/p>\n<p>\tDeliver audio-visuals of the highest editorial quality for broadcast, publishing, and posting<br \/>\n\tBrainstorm and discuss story angles and treatment with editors and reporters ahead of coverage<br \/>\n\tAdvise reporters and the editorial team on the most compelling audio-visuals of the story<br \/>\n\tVideo edit stories and packages for News and Current Affairs<br \/>\n\tSet up and coordinate facilities for live broadcasts<br \/>\n\tEnsure that all audio-visuals and overall output adhere to prescribed editorial principles and SABC News and Current Affairs quality standards<br \/>\n\tDeliver audio-visual content to SABC News and Current Affairs digital platforms<br \/>\n\tMinimise risk of loss or damage to property and equipment<br \/>\n\tTake excellent care of assigned assets for use in reporting, such as the camera and ancillary equipment, ensuring they are always secure<br \/>\n\tUse assigned resources appropriately and efficiently<br \/>\n\tImmediately alert the provincial and\/or assignment editors to any damaged or broken equipment<br \/>\n\tCommunicate with internal stakeholders to ensure optimal delivery of News and Current Affairs\u2019 objectives<br \/>\n\tAdhere to South Africa\u2019s Constitution, all broadcasting and other legislation, ICASA licence conditions and regulations, the BCCSA and Press Council Codes of Conduct, SABC Editorial Policies, and News and Current Affairs\u2019 style guide<br \/>\n\tAdhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>\tNational Diploma \/ Degree in Journalism, Media Studies, or equivalent qualification with special reference to videography<br \/>\n\t5 years\u2019 proven experience in newsgathering and videography<br \/>\n\tDemonstrable experience in off-site video editing<br \/>\n\tWillingness and ability to work on breaking news, Outside Broadcasts (OBs), and special broadcasts<br \/>\n\tUnderstanding of applicable broadcast legislative frameworks and regulations<br \/>\n\tKnowledge and understanding of News and Current Affairs production systems, processes, and workflows<br \/>\n\tExcellent news awareness, sense, and judgement<br \/>\n\tGood photographic sense and sharp eye for detail<br \/>\n\tPhysical fitness to carry and manage equipment<br \/>\n\tAbility to work under pressure and irregular hours, as well as to drive long distances<\/p>\n<p>Apply via company website ( N \/ A ) or<\/p>\n<p>career2.successfactors.eu<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"http:\/\/career2.successfactors.eu","_company_name":"The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC)","_company_website":"http:\/\/N%20\/%20A","_company_tagline":"The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC (SOC) Limited, is a Schedule 2 (Major Public Entity) entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act NO. 1 of 1999, as amended.
