Each task needs to be consistently executed whilst at all times displaying a positive influence on all stakeholders and within the general working environment. It is expected from\u00a0 the employee to deliver all the tasks reflecting a willingness to operate outside the scope of the job description as per operational requirements. (CARE)<\/p>\n<p>Administration of chemotherapy and other oncology treatments<\/p>\n<p>\tActs in a supervisory capacity over Chemotherapy Extenders\/Physician Extenders.<br \/>\n\tProvide and supervise the delivery of evidence based\u00a0 holistic nursing care, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and record the plan of care for patients undergoing chemotherapy .<br \/>\n\tCorrectly interpreting and managing blood results, in consultation with a doctor<br \/>\n\tMonitor, interpret and record patient\u2019s vital data, reporting abnormalities to the doctor.<br \/>\n\tEstablish and keep record of patients allergies.<br \/>\n\tProvide patients with relevant written information regarding their treatment and ensure patient has a signed informed consent.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrate knowledge and competency in intravenous access, the management of intravenous catheters, including the management of extravasation.<br \/>\n\tProgram the infusion pumps as applicable to patient specifics and instruct patients on the usage of pumps for home care as applicable.<br \/>\n\tAdminister chemotherapy and other oncology treatment including anti-emetics and supportive therapy according to protocol.<br \/>\n\tVerify chemotherapy drugs as per protocol and query the rationale behind the decision\u00a0 of chemotherapy regimens that varies from standard regimens with the treating oncologist. \u00a0<br \/>\n\tEducate patient on the effects and side effects of chemotherapy and other oncology treatments.<br \/>\n\tPrevent, identify, report and record adverse reactions of chemotherapy and other oncology treatments to the doctor.<br \/>\n\tProvide emotional support for patient and family during treatment and refer to Oncology Social Worker as necessary.<br \/>\n\tCo-ordinate follow up of treatment plans by scheduling patients correctly.<br \/>\n\tProvide applicable discharge instructions and health education to patients and significant others including an emergency contact number of a health care professional who is available 24hours.<br \/>\n\tCollaborate with members of the inter-professional team and service providers to ensure optimal patient.<br \/>\n\tRecordstatistical data<br \/>\n\tTo ensure scientific nursing practice within the legal framework of nursing.<br \/>\n\tTo ensure that accurate documentation of patient care within legal framework of nursing<br \/>\n\tTo promptly react and report any abnormal blood results<br \/>\n\tTo identify and assess patient&#8217;s condition and readiness to receive chemotherapy<br \/>\n\tInformed patients<br \/>\n\tTo maintain\u00a0 aseptic principles as applicable and prevent the risk of vesicants and irritants<br \/>\n\tDaily scheduling of all patients<br \/>\n\tTo accurately administer the correct dose of chemotherapy<br \/>\n\tTo accurately administer the correct dose of chemotherapy to the correct patient<br \/>\n\tAdminister safe treatment within the company policies<br \/>\n\tTo ensure that the emotional needs and health education needs of the patient is met.<br \/>\n\tTo ensure continued care and correct scheduling of all patients<br \/>\n\tTo ensure updated communication of patient\u2019s information to all healthcare providers involved in the patients care.<br \/>\n\tUpdated monthly stats<\/p>\n<p>Safety awareness and risk management<\/p>\n<p>\tPractice the principle of infection prevention and control and adhere to all standard precautions inclusive of PPE\u2019s as per institutional policy.<br \/>\n\tAdhere to the Sharps protocol.<br \/>\n\tMaintain a therapeutic, clean and safe working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.<br \/>\n\tKeep a record of chemotherapy adverse events.<br \/>\n\tEnsure effective risk prevention and report and act upon potential\/actual risk identified<br \/>\n\tApply Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation as necessary.<br \/>\n\tCorrectly use clean and store equipment as per institutional policy.<br \/>\n\tReport equipment needing repair or replacement to the registered nurse\/UBM.<br \/>\n\tAdhere to the Medical\u00a0 Waste management principles inclusive of cytotoxic waste<br \/>\n\tCheck emergency trolley\/oxygen cylinders<br \/>\n\tPrevent and educate patients on the risk of falling as applicable<br \/>\n\tTo minimize the risk of infections.<br \/>\n\tTo prevent sharp injuries.<br \/>\n\tCompliance and adherence to legislation and policies<br \/>\n\tTo ensure staff and patient safety<br \/>\n\tEnsure appropriate resources present to avoid treatment delay.<\/p>\n<p>Quality assurance<\/p>\n<p>\tActively support and participate in ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement activities.<br \/>\n\tAdhere to patient satisfaction program as per institutional program and protocol.<br \/>\n\tRefer patient complaints to the chemo supervisor\/UBM\/Doctor.<br \/>\n\tTo ensure quality care rendered.<\/p>\n<p>Billings<\/p>\n<p>\tCorrect capturing of patient billings daily.<br \/>\n\tOrdering of Consumables as necessary<br \/>\n\tConfirm correct medical aid authorization of treatment.<br \/>\n\tTo ensure correct billing of patients.<\/p>\n<p>Continued Professional Development<\/p>\n<p>\tKeep up to date with Cancer care\u2019s policies and procedures.<br \/>\n\tParticipate in ongoing in \u00a0personal and professional development.<br \/>\n\tMaintain personal competence in BLS.<br \/>\n\tMaintain personal competence in GCP for trials where applicable.<br \/>\n\tAssist with the coaching of subordinates and junior staff within the unit<br \/>\n\tParticipate in unit academics.<br \/>\n\tTo ensure and improve knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to oncology practice.<br \/>\n\tTo practice safely and ethically.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements<\/p>\n<p>Required minimum education:<\/p>\n<p>\tDegree or Diploma in General Nursing.<br \/>\n\tRegistered with SANC<\/p>\n<p>Required minimum experience:<\/p>\n<p>\t\u00a03-5 years recent nursing experience<br \/>\n\tOncology and\/or ICU experience will be advantageous<br \/>\n\tGood communication skills<br \/>\n\tAble to work well
