\tProvide protection of life, property and the environment by responding to fire and emergency situations, conduct fire prevention duties, up keeping and servicing of fire equipment.<\/p>\n

\n\tPerform all specialized procedures in dealing with emergency other incidents
\n\tAdhere to \u00a0Governance and Risk Management in terms of legislations, policies and procedures
\n\tAdhere to Transnet, policies, procedures and Guidelines
\n\tCaring for other person\u2019s live and\/or assets without favour and\/prejudice
\n\tContinuous assessment of own performance, professional interaction and ethical dealings with stakeholder\/clients and co-workers.
\n\tPerform fire patrols after hours.
\n\tInspection of Dangerous Goods Freight Staged in Marshalling yards
\n\tFire and equipment inspections of cargo sheds, warehouse and other structures.
\n\tFire protection duties on cargo and chemical tankers and explosives.
\n\tCommands incident site until arrival of higher authority.
\n\tHandling of all Hazmat and fire equipment.
\n\tMan the fire control room.
\n\tMan fire equipment on board tugs during vessel incidents.
\n\tStandby and inspection of hot work sites.
\n\tInspection and testing of fire detection, fire suppression and sprinkler systems.
\n\tGrain elevator inspections (threat of dust explosions).
\n\tHot work inspection on vessels, Rail Network, and depot construction sites
\n\tPerform any other function as directed by a person having authority.<\/p>\n

Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
\tQualifications & Experience: \u00a0Grade 12 \u00a0Valid First Aid Level 3 or valid Basic Ambulance Assistants Fire Fighter 1 (SAQA\/IFSAC) accredited. \u00a0Hazmat Awareness (SAQA\/IFSAC) accredited. \u00a0Fire Fighter 2 (SAQA\/IFSAC) accredited. \u00a0Hazmat Operational (SAQA\/IFSAC) accredited. \u00a0Hazmat response technician (SAQA\/IFSAC) Accreditation. \u00a0Higher Certificate in Fire Technology (NQF 5) Only Internal Applicants will be recognised with at least one of the following qualification * Higher Certificate in Fire Technology (SAESI) or * Intermediate Level Certificate (IFE) or * Fire Officer Certificate issued by old Transnet Training Centres or * National Certificate: Emergency Services Supervision – Fire and Rescue Operations SAQA 64390 \u00a0Four (4) – Years minimum. experience in Hazmat Fire and Emergency Services environment \u00a0Be in possession of a valid driver license (minimum C1) with PrDP and be in a position to drive such a vehicle. \u00a0Mentally and Physically Fit.<\/p>\n
