\n\tThis role is ideal for a technically strong individual with experience in Food Safety and Quality Management Systems who is passionate about\u00a0maintaining\u00a0high food safety standards, driving continuous improvement, and leading quality processes within a production environment.\u00a0
\n\tYou will take full responsibility for developing, implementing, verifying, and continuously improving the Food Safety and Quality Management System at plant level, while managing a small quality team and working closely with production, technical, and customer stakeholders.<\/p>\n
Minimum\u00a0Requirements:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tDiploma in Food Technology (Essential)\u00a0
\n\tDegree in Food Science (Preferred)\u00a0
\n\t2\u20134 years\u2019 Quality Assurance or technical experience in an FMCG environment\u00a0
\n\t1\u20132 years\u2019 supervisory experience\u00a0
\n\tProven experience developing and\/or reviewing Food Safety & Quality Management Systems (HACCP, VACCP, TACCP, FSSC 22000)\u00a0
\n\tStrong understanding of food safety legislation and regulatory compliance\u00a0
\n\tAbility to manage audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions\u00a0
\n\tMust be able to commute reliably to Germiston or\u00a0relocate\u00a0at own cost\u00a0<\/p>\n
Roles and Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/p>\n
Food Safety & Quality Management System\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tDevelop, update, implement, and verify the Food Safety and Quality Management System.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure compliance with legal, regulatory, and certification standards (HACCP, FSSC, VACCP, TACCP).\u00a0
\n\tMaintain all quality documentation including procedures, policies, specifications, checklists, and work instructions.\u00a0
\n\tConduct internal training to ensure compliance across departments.\u00a0
\n\tDevelop and perform internal audit schedules.\u00a0
\n\tRepresent the plant during customer and certification audits.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure continuous improvement and alignment between documentation and operational activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Quality Control & Risk Management\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tConduct risk assessments and implement\u00a0appropriate control\u00a0measures.\u00a0
\n\tMonitor raw materials, processes, and finished products to ensure compliance.\u00a0
\n\tOversee microbiological sampling, trending, and reporting.\u00a0
\n\tInvestigate customer complaints and non-conformances and implement corrective actions.\u00a0
\n\tMaintain zero tolerance for audit findings and process deviations.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure proper control of allergens, contamination risks, and hygiene standards.\u00a0
\n\tVerify compliance\u00a0of\u00a0product and process control equipment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Projects & Product Trials\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tWork closely with cross-functional teams (Production, Technical, NPD) on new product development and improvement projects.\u00a0
\n\tDevelop and execute trial plans.\u00a0
\n\tCompile and distribute detailed trial reports.\u00a0
\n\tUpdate product specifications, work instructions, and quality documentation.\u00a0
\n\tOversee trial sample management and implementation into production.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Team Management\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tManage and coordinate Quality Controllers (5 direct reports).\u00a0
\n\tSupervise daily activities to ensure performance targets are achieved.\u00a0
\n\tOversee time and attendance and ensure fair application of disciplinary processes.\u00a0
\n\tSupport employee development and training.\u00a0
\n\tFoster a positive working environment and strong quality culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stakeholder & Technical Communication\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tBuild and\u00a0maintain\u00a0professional relationships with customers and internal departments.\u00a0
\n\tRespond to client enquiries within agreed timelines.\u00a0
\n\tRepresent the plant during audits and walk-throughs.\u00a0
\n\tPromote a strong culture of food safety and quality compliance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
SHEQ Compliance\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tEnsure hygiene, PPE compliance, and food safety standards are\u00a0maintained at all times.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure all duties are performed\u00a0in accordance with\u00a0Occupational Health and Safety requirements.<\/p>\n
