education, Life Science education, or Natural Science<br \/>\n\tAt least ten (10) years relevant lecturing experience with substantial experience at Associate Professor level in Physical Science education or Life Science education or Natural Science education or Technology Education at a Higher Education institution.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated experience in academic leadership, including programme leadership, research leadership, leadership in community engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrate extensive and sustained research productivity, including:<\/p>\n<p>\tA significant record of publications in high-quality DHET-accredited peer-reviewed journals.<br \/>\n\tPublications in reputable international.<br \/>\n\tScholarly books, edited volumes, or book chapters published by reputable academic publishers.<br \/>\n\tEvidence of national and\u00a0international recognition, demonstrated through:<br \/>\n\tStrong citation record (e.g., Scopus H-index, citation metrics).<br \/>\n\tInvitations as keynote speaker, invited speaker or research collaborator.<br \/>\n\tParticipation in\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 international\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 research collaborations.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated success in\u00a0securing external research funding as principal investigator or co-investigator.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated contribution to advancing knowledge in Science Education.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated evidence of national and international leadership in Science Education.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence of:<\/p>\n<p>\tServing as\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 an\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 external\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 examiner\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 at\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 multiple institutions.<br \/>\n\tEditorial board membership or journal<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated\u00a0scholarship in teaching and learning.<br \/>\n\tNRF rating is required.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated leadership in curriculum design, programme development and academic innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence of leading the integration of:<\/p>\n<p>\tArtificial intelligence in education, Digital learning technologies, innovative and inclusive pedagogical practices, evidence of leading teaching and learning practices within the department, faculty and institution.<br \/>\n\tEvidence of successful postgraduate supervision at both master\u2019s and PhD level,<br \/>\n\tEvidence of developing research capacity, including:<br \/>\n\tMentoring early-career academics<br \/>\n\tLeadership in academic associations or research networks.<\/p>\n<p>Associate professor<\/p>\n<p>\tPhD degree with specialisation in Physical Science education, Life Science education, or Natural Science<br \/>\n\tAt least eight (8) years relevant lecturing experience in Physical Science education or Life Science education or Natural Science education or Technology Education at a Higher Education institution.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated experience in\u00a0leading\u00a0teaching, curriculum innovation and programme development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.<br \/>\n\tEvidence of successful post-graduate supervision at both Master and PhD level,<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrate sustained and independent research productivity, including:<\/p>\n<p>\tA substantial and consistent record of publications in DHET-accredited peer-reviewed journals.<br \/>\n\tPeer-reviewed conference proceedings and presentations at national and international<br \/>\n\tContributions to scholarly books, edited volumes, or book chapters published by reputable academic<br \/>\n\tParticipation in both national and international research collaborations and academic networks.<br \/>\n\tEvidence of successful acquisition or participation in externally funded research projects (e.g., NRF, DHET, UCDP, international funding bodies).<br environments, AI-enhanced teaching and learning approaches, Inclusive, student-centered pedagogies and authentic assessment strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Lecturer<\/p>\n<p>\tPhD\u00a0with specialisation in Physical Science education, Life Science education, or Natural Science<br \/>\n\tAt least five (5) years of relevant lecturing experience in Physical Science education or Life Science education or Natural Science education.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including curriculum development, implementation and assessment.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrate consistent\u00a0and\u00a0 ongoing research productivity, including: Publications in\u00a0DHET-accredited\u00a0 peer-reviewed\u00a0journals.<br \/>\n\tPeer-reviewed conference proceedings and presentations at national and\/or international<br \/>\n\tContributions to scholarly books or book chapters\u00a0published by reputable academic publishers.<br \/>\n\tEvidence of developing research profile, including:<br \/>\n\tEmerging citation record (e.g., Google Scholar, Scopus H-index).<br \/>\n\tActive participation in national and international research projects and<br \/>\n\tDemonstrate evidence of\u00a0 contributions\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 to curriculum development and delivery, including:<br \/>\n\tEvidence of integration of: Digital learning technologies, Artificial intelligence tools learning (SoTL).<\/p>\n<p>Duties and responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>Teaching and Learning:<\/p>\n<p>\tTeach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Science Education, including Natural Sciences, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences pedagogy.<br \/>\n\tDesign and deliver innovative, student-centred learning experiences aligned with inquiry-based learning, constructivism and experiential learning.<br \/>\n\tIntegrate digital technologies, including Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle), Artificial Intelligence tools, Digital simulations and virtual laboratories, Open Educational Resources (OERs) and blended and online learning approaches.<br \/>\n\tSupport SPU\u2019s digital transformation strategy by integrating.<br \/>\n\temerging technologies into teaching.<br \/>\n\tSupervise and assess student teaching practice (Work Integrated Learning) in schools.<br \/>\n\tImplement innovative assessment strategies that support deep learning and student success.<br \/>\n\tProvide academic mentoring and student support to promote retention and success.<\/p>\n<p>Research:<\/p>\n<p>\tConducting independent and collaborative research in Science Education.<br \/>\n\tPublishing regularly in accredited national and international peer-reviewed journals.<br \/>\n\tSupervising postgraduate students (Honours, Master\u2019s and Doctoral levels, where appropriate).<br \/>\n\tContributing to research aligned with SPU priority areas, including: AI in education, STEM education innovation, Teacher education in rural contexts, Digital learning and simulations and Inquiry-based science teaching.<br \/>\n\tSecuring external research funding through national and international grants (e.g., NRF, DHET, UCDP).<br \/>\n\tParticipating in and activating research within national and international collaborations and academic networks.<\/p>\n<p>Curriculum Development:<\/p>\n<p>\tContribute to curriculum development and<br \/>\n\tIntegrate emerging educational technologies and pedagogical approaches into course materials.<br \/>\n\tLead the development, review and enhancement of Science Education programmes in the FoE.<br \/>\n\tEnsure programme alignment with SAQA, HEQSF and CHE requirements, MRTEQ teacher education standards, SPU Teaching and Learning Strategy and National and international best practice.<br \/>\n\tSupport the integration of AI, digital simulations and emerging technologies into curricula.<br \/>\n\tContribute to programme accreditation, quality assurance, and curriculum transformation processes.<br \/>\n\tDevelop programmes that respond to the needs of rural and under-resourced schools.<\/p>\n<p>Community Engagement:<\/p>\n<p>\tEngage with schools, teachers and education stakeholders in the Northern Cape.<br \/>\n\tSupport teacher professional development.<br \/>\n\tContribute to STEM outreach.<br \/>\n\tParticipate in projects aimed at strengthening science education in rural and under-resourced schools.<br \/>\n\tPromote socially responsive\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 contextually\u00a0\u00a0 relevant education.<\/p>\n<p>Academic Citizenship:<\/p>\n<p>\tContribute to departmental, faculty and
