\tThis role involves overseeing procurement processes within the Timber division, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required for operations.
\n\tThe role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier and contractor management, contract oversight, and procurement optimisation to support operational efficiency and divisional growth.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities and Duties<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and strategies aligned with divisional objectives
\n\tSource and evaluate suppliers, negotiate terms, and manage supplier contracts
\n\tIdentify opportunities for cost savings and procurement efficiency improvements
\n\tEstablish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability
\n\tEvaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms
\n\tOversee supplier performance and manage contract compliance, disputes, and resolutions
\n\tCollaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and plan procurement activities
\n\tOversee the selection, onboarding, and evaluation of contractors
\n\tMonitor contractor compliance with contractual terms, operational KPIs, and safety and environmental requirements
\n\tResolve contractor disputes and facilitate performance improvement plans
\n\tDevelop contractor performance dashboards and benchmarking tools
\n\tAnalyse contractor cost trends, utilisation, and efficiency
\n\tSupport operational teams in optimising contractor deployment and cost structures
\n\tNegotiate contractor rates, service-level agreements (SLAs), penalties, and incentives
\n\tOversee the full contract lifecycle including drafting, negotiation, execution, renewal, and termination
\n\tMaintain a centralised database of procurement and contractor agreements
\n\tEnsure contractors meet contractual obligations, operational KPIs, and service-level agreements
\n\tConduct regular contractor performance reviews and implement improvement plans where required
\n\tEnsure contractor compliance with safety, environmental, labour, and forestry regulations
\n\tCollaborate with Legal and HSE departments on contract compliance, dispute resolution, and risk mitigation
\n\tPerform cost analyses and benchmarking of contractor services to improve efficiency and reduce costs
\n\tPartner with operational teams to align contractor capacity with harvesting, transport, silviculture, and maintenance requirements
\n\tOversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and minimise waste
\n\tCoordinate with internal teams to forecast demand and plan procurement activities
\n\tEnsure compliance with procurement regulations and standards
\n\tIdentify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities
\n\tAnalyse procurement performance and provide insights to support decision-making
\n\tPrepare reports on procurement activities for senior management
\n\tLead and develop the procurement team and facilitate training and development opportunities<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Skills<\/p>\n
\tMatric \/ Grade 12
\n\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
\n\tA Master\u2019s degree (advantageous)
\n\tProfessional certification such as CPSM or CIPS (advantageous)
\n\t5 \u2013 7 years\u2019 experience in a procurement management role, preferably within the timber or agricultural sector
\n\tExtensive knowledge of procurement principles and practices
\n\tUnderstanding of the timber industry and its supply chain dynamics
\n\tFamiliarity with procurement regulations, compliance standards, and risk management
\n\tExperience with procurement and financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, AS400, and advanced Excel
\n\tStrong negotiation and supplier management skills
\n\tExceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
\n\tExcellent time management and organisational skills with attention to detail
\n\tStrong written and verbal communication skills
\n\tEffective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
\n\tStrategic thinker who can drive improvements and add value to operational decision-making
\n\tAdaptable and proactive, comfortable working in a dynamic environment
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license (Code 08) and willingness to travel (including cross-border countries)
\n\tValid Passport
\n\tBilingual in English and Afrikaans (advantageous)<\/p>\n
