Minimum Qualifications and Requirements\u00a0 \u00a0
\nApplicants must meet the following requirements: \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tA Master of \u00a0Science (MSc) degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Nursing Science, or a related field (NQF Level 9). \u00a0
\n\tAt least one (1) published research article in a recogni s ed peer – reviewed journal.\u00a0
\n\tDemonstrable experience or knowledge in non – communicable dise ases research, particularly in areas such as epidemiology, health promotion, or chronic disease management. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\t\u00a0Experience \u00a0with \u00a0community – based \u00a0 research, \u00a0 including \u00a0 data \u00a0 collection \u00a0 methods \u00a0 (surveys,interviews, health assessments) and community engagement. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tExperience with health risk assessment tools, such as the InterHeart risk score, \u00a0would \u00a0be \u00a0a strong advantage . \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tFamiliarity with digital health technologies (mHealth, eHealth) and their application in public health interventions is desirable. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tAbility \u00a0 to work independently and as part of a research team. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tGood scientific writing, communication, and organizational skills. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Key Performance Areas\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tThe successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the SARChI Chair\u2019s research portfolio, specifi cally in community – based NCD prevention, control, and management. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Duties include: \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tConducting literature reviews and assisting with research on the determinants of NCDs, including biological, social, and environmental factors. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tAssisting with the plan ning and execution of community health assessments using the InterHeart risk assessment tool and other screening protocols. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tSupporting the implementation of community – based \u00a0interventions, \u00a0including \u00a0health education, dietary counselling, and physical act ivity promotion programs. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tContributing to the development and testing of digital health tools, such as mobile health apps and educational animations, for NCD management. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tAssisting with the collection, management, and analysis of epidemiological and behavioural risk surveillance data. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tEnsuring accurate data entry, maintenance of secure research records, and adherence to data confidentiality and ethical protocols. \u00a0
\n\tAssisting in the preparation of research manuscripts, reports, policy briefs, and other \u00a0scholarly outputs. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tProviding research support to postgraduate students and liaising with the SARChI Chairholder on project progress . \u00a0<\/p>\n
